My 2006 A4 2.0T started surging under acceleration today and I got a check engine light. Runs smooth at idle. Don't think it's the diverter because it sounds normal when boosting.

I haven't changed anything recently to warrant this.

My eBay VagCom cable won't read my engine codes :s

I have 149980 km on the car. What do I do?

PCV failure sounds most likely. Is there any oil vapor/spray around the PCV valve or the connecting hoses? If there is you've probably got a leak. If not it still could still have failed internally.

Luckily for you, with the CEL, assuming its the PCV, the dealer will replace it under warranty for free.

It could aslo be the Intake flap runner, which is also under warranty.

Take it to the dealer and explain to them the problem. When the see the CEL, they'll likely replace this stuff for free.

Edit: I don't normally recommend going to the dealer, but in this case I feel the problems are caused by stuff under warranty, hence my recommendation.

Solid light. Engine mods I just have the forge diverter.

Light came on when I was merging onto the highway

What is the km limit on the warranty?

its 120k miles, so whats that like 200k km?

It COULD be different in Canada, but I don't think so.

I called up the dealer. He thinks it's the PCV and said it should be covered under warranty. He said I can drive the car until the light flashes.

There is oil spray on the engine so I am guessing it could be PCV like you guys said. I honestly hope it's covered. This wasn't an expense I was expecting right now.

Were you accelerating when it came on? I was getting hesitation during fast acceleration, and I switched all my coil packs to the newest revision (on the recommendation of many from here) and it solved all my misfires [:)]

If its the pcv, and it really sounds like it is, it definitely should be covered.

I had my coil packs replaced under warranty not more than 15k km ago by the dealer. I would have thought if it were a coil pack I would have rough idle which I don't have. I also thought coil packs cause the light to flash.

What is even more weird is that my light came off about 10 minutes ago when I went to go move it to the other side of the road...
