Differences between the B7 S-line vs. B7 S4 steering wheels (both are 3-spoked)?

Is the B7 S4 wheel thicker than the A4 S-lines? Does the B7 S4 have more defined thumb rests at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions? Just wondering if it was worth the upgrade or not.

Btw, do all A4 S-line steering wheels have the red/gray inner stitching or only the Titanium editioned cars?

S4 is thicker. much thicker.

To have the s-line steering wheel, you need to have the Ti package...that's for the 2008 B7.

I don't know how it was in the earlier years.

I don't suggest putting an S4 wheel in a non S4...just looks retarded.

I could change out the S4 emblem and pop back on my S-Line one though. Then I would have a thicker steering wheel, right? Anyone know if the thumb rests are more pronounced in the S4's steering wheel?

I just replaced my 3 spoke with an S4 steering wheel. They are completely identical except the S4 logo.

Yes the thumb rest are deeper, if I remember correctly the leather is perforated all around the steering.

Let us know what you decide...either ways, you can always swap the emblem for an s line logo. That works too

So, the 3-spoke S4 steering wheel is NOT thicker than the 3-spoke S-line A4 steering wheel? I have the perforations in my current wheel and if they are identical, except for the badging, then there is no point for me to swap.

^ I had the 3 spoke steering wheel with no s-line badge on it. I guess that's not an s-line, is jut a normal 3 spoke stewing wheel, right? But anyway, this S4 I just got it is identical in every way with my old, thickness, leather texture, perforations, every single detail with the exception that it has the s4 badge at the bottom.

I replaced mine cause paint was coming off and I Couldn't pass the deal on this. In normal circumstances I would not replace the 3 spoke with and s4 but I just needed one badly.

how much did you pay for the replacement s4 wheel? Did you have to transfer over your airbag or did the new wheel come with one? did you sell your old wheel or is it sitting in your garage? thanks for the info... you can pm the details if you don't want to publicly state it.

Bingo. Thicker wheel with the full perforation is the RS4 wheel.

Thanks for the clarification guys! I almost bought the same S4 replacement wheel for something I already have... guess I'll keep my 07 Ti 3-spoke steering wheel with red/gray stitching. If anyone is interested, the ebay seller states that we can transfer our current b7 a4 3-spoke airbag and cover over to the RS5 steering wheel core.
