I have a 96 12v a4 quattro automatic transmission and i need to pass emission in pa, I really dont know the history of the car. Bought it with a bad tranny and been sitting in my garage for half a year. Replaced tranny and drove at least 300 miles and when i went to take inspection computer says not ready for reading. Plug in vag com and click on 15 readiness and says " Readiness status not available! Vehicle not obd II compatible? " I check all fuses on the side and they all are good. I tried searching but theres no answers. I need to pass inspection.. Can anyone point me to the right direction

Anyone?

I would check the ABS module since 2 out of 3 codes reference the ABS. Even though that sounds totally unrelated to a tranny swap... Any module, if it took a big enough dump could wreak havoc on your ECU. Also, did the inspection shop say no go or are you just running the codes yourself before you take it in?

Sorry to ask but what is havoc? Inspection shop told me no go. They Computer says "readiness not ready" I have 30 days to take it back free of charge. When i got home i connect vagcom and says Readiness status not available! Vehicle not obd II compatible?... If i connect a od2 scanner and click on readiness its says not available. Can't be my vagcom and scanner cause it works fine on my 98 passat and 01 jetta..

If you search a few threads around here, if the ABS module takes a dump on you it causes communication with the ECU to become fubar. I'd get your ABS module R&R'd then try to scan. But that's just me.

Havoc=Problems. I would disconnect the ABS module and fuse and then try to run codes again. If it was the ABS you should be able to connect to the OBD....Rule out one possibility

Dang. Was hoping that was it. I would still say a bad module somewhere or your actual ECU.

Yeah me too. If you would have to guess. Which module will you pick? I remember when i got the car the the o2 sensor wires was riped by the driveshaft. I replaced the o2 sensor but that the beginning it was giving me vacuum codes. I really dont remember the codes. And it was due cause o2 sensor wires touch ground and fuse number 29 burned out. replaced it and problem went away. Car runs fine it just not loging into readiness.

Anyone out there with a v6 12v 2.8 engine 96 97 that can test if they readiness works or its just only me

Update. 96 97 with 12v v6 2.8l Won 't log in Readiness in Vagcom due to a bug on the ECU. If you want to see your readiness you going to need a universal OBDII scanner that support I/M Monitors. I checked mines with a scanner from autozone.

How did you find that out?

How did you find that out?

from: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/readiness.html
"12V 2.8L V6 engines may have readiness bits stored in or near Measuring Block Group 029."

from: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/audi_issues.html
1996-1997 Audi A6 2.8L 12V V6 Engine

I tried everything and nothing work. I check my readiness with a autozone scanner and a universal one.
