Has anyone tried going from dual exhaust to single? Thought it might be cool.. If it was possible. And as far as coil overs.. What are pros and cons? Should I lower with springs instead? Helps apreciated thanks.

1) just replace with a valance that works if you can find one. I think tdi's use them?
2) just get coils, unless you are super anal about the ride height or you want adjustments for tracking your car.

Quadrooples exhaust, fuck single it will only cut your HP in half!
You do one single pipe per cylinder, and run a KO4 off each one, then Eric Paul young from desperate housewives will jerk you off...

I feel like a single would look umm ricer-ish? since it'd probably be so big...

4 times the bent rods? [;)]

Really a 3" ID pipe going straight out the rear is the equiv or a split to two 2.25" ID pipes coming out. And 3" is really not that big. Most aftermarket tips are 3"

99% of enthusiasts have no need for coil overs. for the price of a GOOD set, your talking 1200 plus. shocks and springs are plenty for the road and minor track time. bilstein sports and h&r springs go so nice together

Then what if you had a 3" (|) single tip exhaust vs a 3" (Y) dual tip exhaust
would be that much of a difference?

you wouldnt gain anything. the extra turbulence going from 3" to a ypipe would actually lower your flow (just barely). I mean it would be so minimal that you wouldnt be able to really measure it in any performance way.
Pi*r^2
3" = Pi*1.5^2 = 7.06858347
2 2.25" = 2*Pi*1.125^2 = 7.9521564
2 3" = 2*Pi*1.5^2 = 14.1371669
even though it is more, you would still be bottle necked at 3"

Most pipes that split come in half an inch bigger/have reducers. You just wouldnt see it. One of the reasons opening up the downpipe is such a big deal

regardless of the tiny difference in gains i would much rather have a split dual exhaust like the b7 anyday over the 1 sided dual on the b8, it just makes the back of the car look sexy and aggressive

i think it would change the tone a little more in hopes of how the B5 sounds, love how they sound with an exhaust. But total different engine and everything but one cam dream.
