In need of brakes asap and im looking to go for more stopping power than oem. budget 1000-2000 total for both front and rear. So far the ones i keep hearing are zimmerman, Adams rotors, and oem s4 kit. Whats the consensus. Im on stock 17'' Split spokes and not really interested in new wheels.

I'm going to make this short and sweet. Unless you go larger on wheel size, don't expect to find many options. I'm on stock 17s also, I plan to go with adam's rotors. Discount for the plug? [:D]

Been looking at those intently but I have also heard some bad reviews on them. I plan on Calling AR tomorrow and getting a quote on what I'm looking for.

im getting 6 piston porsche calipers and rotors for under a grand front and rear!!! they specialize in the salvaging porsches which ironically are our big brothers in the cars industry... give them a shoiut it dont hurt to test the waters and see what fits yours with your wheel fitment!!! just giving my 3 cents

You only need ceramic pads to get pretty big improvement over stock. So you can basically get a new feel for less than $200. If you need to replace your rotors too, I'd suggest zimmerman since they make OEMs for audi, mercedes, porche.

If you want the look, get drilled ones, but there're disadvantages to that, they eat your pads faster and crack easier, the advantage on the other hand is .... wait, none. So there's really no increase in braking, they only look better. If you go zimmerman you can only get drilled for front since they don't make rear ones for our cars. Now they say slotted ones gives you a bit more stopping power than solid or drilled.

And since you don't want to change your wheels, big brake kit is not an option.

There are many other brads too, adam's are popular here, people love them, a bit pricey if you ask me, ECS is a known brand here too, I actually have a set of four new ECS drilled/slotted that never went on my car and I've been planing to sell them for so long, but then changed my mind. I really should let them go, I have no use for them.

So bottom line, you could replace your pads only with ceramic ones if rotors are good, even if not you should not spend more than $500 in parts.

I guess I should just go wheel co and bbk all at once

I would recommend either HAWK Ceramic or their HPS pads paired with some slotted rotors and stainless brake lines.

Shoot me a PM I would be happy to quote you! [up]

Yes, to be honest keep your rotors if they're still good and get some ceramic pads and be done with it.
And go BBK when u change your wheels if you really want it but I still don't see any point in spending a few thousands on brakes if you don't track the car.

I track the car twice a month when the track is open:) and I don't think i will stay stock wheels forever but right now I simply don't want larger wheels. Because if I do I would also want to get coil overs. So instead of replacing breaks in replacing wheels suspension and brakes. 3-4k easy

^^ This. Get some stainless lines, a Tyrolsport Caliper stiffening kit, some Hawk pads, and new rotors (if needed) and you'll have a MUCH better braking system than stock, for roughly $360-400 w/o rotors, $6-700 w/ rotors.a

Real BBKs are for the track, you'll never realize their benefits on the street. Also the B7 A4 brakes are actually quite good and with the upgrades above will be excellent.

You could also buy some S4 caliper carriers and some S4 rotors and you'll have the same brakes as the S4. The calipers are the same, its only a difference in rotor/carrier size.

Edit: just saw your comment about tracking. I think the S4 rotor upgrade would be best for you. You gain 25mm (345mm vs 320mm) of rotor diameter which equates to a significant increase in braking power and more dissipation area.

You could also think about upgrading the rears to S4 spec, the S4 rears are vented 300mm discs as opposed to solid 288mm. You'd probably need new calipers, carriers, and rotors though which means $$$.

Draklore fit rear S4 rotors with stock calipers. I guess it can be done.
