I was only able to move 1 of 4 suspension areas (passenger rear lowered ok).

I used so much PB Blaster too, almost an entire bottle - didn't help really.

A complete fail.

Pissed off beyond belief.

How many hours of labor would it take for a shop to unseize/adjust my suspension?

WTF.

This is why I had to dump my FKs... I hope you are able to get it fixed. Maine salt really fucked my coils, with this new set I am taking extra precautions to treat them and stop rust before its able to occur

If you can do it safely with out burning shit up use a propane torch on the seized area that will help break them free.

Had The FK Silverlines on my GTI. I learned my lesson after the first time they seized on me. You really have to keep the thread bodies clean and lubricated throughout the winter months. Especially in New England.

Use KROIL

Don't know if this would be feasible but....Once your CO's are adjusted to the height/low you want, why not spray the rest of the exposed threads with Plastidip...If it's so easy to peel off it should keep the road salt from corroding the threads until ready to either readjust up or down.....

Any one try this...???

Thanks for the input guys. Phil, I will definitely try KROIL, thank you for the suggestion.

This sucks. I was really totally unaware of this issue (somehow).

I hope that a shop can help with spring tensioners, and professional tools.

I am not totally sure if I am using the correct terminology when I say "seized" here... Tell me if I am right or wrong please:

I am able to actually spin the coil perch using the special kw coil wrench a little bit, but once it hit its own "stopping point" it will not move really back up or back down. Is this what it means to be seized? I'm calling my shop this morning.

same thing happened to me with ST's actually broke some plastic off the perch on the drivers side front... time to take the coils off this weekend.

Do the perches have a little locking nut in them to hold them at the current height? My ST's have that and you won't be able to spin them when it's locked.

I always apply a generous amount of anti-seize on the threads and the collars before I even install a set of coils. So far I haven't had a set seize up on me.

Maybe see if you can get boots for your coils after you un-seize them. I know the shop I go to for some of my mods sells them, and the guys at the shop use them on their own cars.

No kidding. It's sick that I actually thought about that today.

my multi-quote is not working today, so:

@ tankdeer - no. there is not a locking mechanism.

@ groundround - you're screwed too I predict.

@ Jason from ECS - what is this anti-seize product you speak of?

@schrim - I don't have the capacity myself to remove my own suspension. I will need to have my shop tell me what to do next I think.

@ baldy - what are these boots you speak of?

I called my shop, and the guy said that they will take a look at the situation next week when I bring it in, and he thinks they will be able to find a solution. Fingers crossed.

PB Blaster is not an instant free-up-my-shit type of product.....try splashing some on your jammed up coil in the morning, and at night for like 2-3 days....try it one more time, you may have more luck

Sorry to hear about this. Luckily dont live in an area where they salt the roads.

Question: Why is in that every coilover thread I read refuses to buy non Stainless coilovers...yet this is happening on stainless coilovers as well...because they like shinny things?

Not to be a dick or start an argument, just dont understand the whole stainless argument. Not a single factory offers stainless suspension for production cars that I am aware of.

this, it only has an "instant" success when the problem is a spec of corrosion. every few hours hit it, try again. hit it, try again. like spring break in Miami
