View Full Version : Faulty Rev D Diverter Valve

Hi Audizine,

I recently had an issue with the car throwing the code N249 - Mechanical Malfunction.

So I went to change the diverter valve from Rev G (which came brand new with the new turbo) to Rev D (piston type).

However, after changing to Rev D it still throws the code. The car currently seems to lag a bit compared to previously on the Rev G.

So I was just wondering if there's any installation issue that I need to check out.

I've read some VW/Audi forum saying that the people dont notice the "lag" or lack of boost from Rev D, and some people saying that it lags a bit.

How do I know if there's an issue with the valve itself? Where do I look at?

Thanks

i have the same issue with my car. the code is stored in the ecu and no matter what i do the check engine keeps coming back after driving a car for a little bit. i tried changing the dv and the n75. didnt do anything so that was waste of money. what doesnt make sense in my car, if i clear the code and take off the battery + for half and hour, the code is still there before i even start the car.

Do you have a forge spacer? Did you replace the rubber DV seal when you swapped DV's?

Could be a wiring fault. The DVs on the b7 are actuated by the ECU IIRC. Could be a frayed wire or short. If it were mechanical, there's no way the fault could be recognized without turning the car on after disconnecting the battery.

If a code pops immediately after resetting than you have a faulty circuit.
I would suspect you wiring near the connector.

No, I do not have a forge spacer.

Which rubber DV seal are you referring to?

I just swapped out a newish (REV G) DV with a brand new (REV D) DV. So I assume the seal in the DV is brand new.

Yea the new DV has a new seal but I know when I removed my old DV the seal didn't come off with it and I almost installed the new one with 2 rubber seals which I'm sure would have caused issues. I'm sure it's fine but it couldn't hurt to double check to make sure the old seal came off with the the DV.

Kaklexicon,

Actually you could be onto something. Because I looked at the DV I removed (Rev G) and it was missing the yellow sealant rubber seal. So I am wondering if the mechanic removed it with the seal stuck on there then putting the new DV (Rev D) on there. So essentially the new DV got an extra rubber seal stuck there. Which may cause some leakage.

I'll try to get it looked at.

forge 007, get a diode to trip the ecu. done deal. awe makes a dv that ones with the diode....pretty reliable....ran it for 30k so far
