So I can buy a brand new set of Koni coil overs for $700. The problem is that I don't know the guy personally so he would set up a Ebay auction for me to purchase them. That would be the only assurance I would have that I am not being scammed. Also, the Koni warranty as I understand it only applied to the original purchaser so I would be buying a set of coil overs with no warranty of any kind. But, if it's genuine, it's a set of Koni coil overs brand new for $700 in the box.

What would you do?

Buy them, contact Koni and see if they will accept pics and receipts of the unopened box....

If I was in your spot I would buy them.
Then again, I'm about as paranoid as they get - and am under the general impression that if a deal is too good to be true, chances are it is.

Live and learn tho? If he sets up an ebay sale and takes the hit for the paypal fees... Then at least your hard earned cash is safe. Paypal is pretty good for that sort of stuff, if they are fake or used/damaged, contact the seller/paypal asap and stuff usually works out in the end.

Yeah, same here Ignus. I'm like hmmm, what's the catch. The price is right where it's low enough that it could be for real so it's hard to say. My first thought was that they are going to be some Chinese knock off. I'm really tempted though.

How did you find out about this deal? Did he buy from a reputable dealer? And if so, will he share with you a copy of his receipt? I can't speak for Koni, but many manufacturers will honor a warranty with the original proof-of-purchase.

Ebay and PayPal help, but I'm still not sure I'd be 100% confident. If you do go this route, I recommend paying via credit card. When I did have my one dispute with paypal, they...with no good reason...backed the seller and refused to help. Fortunately my credit card company saw differently. Anyway....good luck!

i would make sure i could get the warranty. you can get a set of ST's around that price with warranty. Im not a huge fan of koni though..its basically the stasis coilovers valved a bit differently...and from my experience stasis coilovers are harsh.

And there's where you are wrong. Because they are valves differently, they are much better than stasis and quite comfortable.

Tons of room to play with in terms of ride height as well. $700 is like %30-40 off though...

No, I just requested it so I would have some kind of assurance I wasn't going to get scammed. Paypal and credit card would be my method of payment also. Just want to cover myself as much as possible. Not everyone is as trustworthy as you guys here on AZ. :)
