So, my buddy is buying a 06 a4 2.0, auto.
Is there anything he should look out for when buying this. What are some of the things that fail on this car, if any? Is this year of a4, this type of car, reliable? Its all stock.
Please let me know, thanks guys!!

Yes but becareful with auto's, is it a CVT transmission? If it is I'd personally stay away.
Other than that...just search for B7 A4 section for common issues.

Continuously Variable Transmission. If your car is front-wheel drive, you have it. If it's quattro you have a tiptronic.

Slow, power sucking, Prone to failure, no real gears, can't handle much more than stock torque levels in some cases, expensive services. Who's takin over from here?

Slow? As in how? Mine shifts pretty quickly :)
You could say power sucking, but 6speed guys and tiptronics are dynoing at about the same as me with Stage 2.
Prone to failure? I've heard many say that, but I haven't had any problems with my transmission, 67K miles (Stage 2 APR). I think B6's CVT are the ones with problems, plus there are guys on here with more miles on theirs than me and still good.
What do you mean can't handle MORE THAN stock torque? Mine sits at about 240wtq. It takes it pretty good (That's what he said) :o
