I need/want a new vacuum, strictly for detailing the car. I'm going to keep my old wet/dry vacuum for junk clean up stuff. So I'd like to see what you guys can recommend.

I'd like something with a small footprint, quiet, and with great suction. It would be nice to be able to buy locally.

Got a Oreck as a gift last Christmas and it it works great. Long cord, lots of attachments, tons of power/suction,pretty quiet and quality built to last.

I use a small craftsman. Easy to move around, but not very quiet. Otherwise, works great.

This works great, its small and powerful. Only down fall is the necessary attachments don't come with the vacuum.

My metro is going 2 yrs strong. I highly recommend it.

I have the same vacuum (4 hp). Good vac, great size and portability. Love the blower capability as well, especially since the air is warmed.

However, I've had an issue with mine since just a few mos after buying it (about 1 year ago...have just lived with it). The power cord extends beyond the hole where it routed to the canister, actually showing exposed wires. I feel like this poor sealing may contribute to less suction. Does yours have a grommet or anything like that where the wire feeds in to the vacuum? If you tug on it, can you see exposed wires?
