I had the GIAC flash done several weeks back. I took my car in yesterday for the 70 km service. I left the car in the 91 tune as my installer didn't have the loader for me to change the car back to stock. Anyway, the dealer never mentioned a thing. You really can't notice this tune driving the car into the garage to change the oil and complete the 70 km service. My loader hasn't arrived yet but I expect it to arrive within a few days.

Well, pretty much any method the dealer would use to tell if you had a tune or not would be able to tell regardless of the mode you leave the car in, so it's not something I'd lose sleep over.

Which dealer you went for service?

Most dealers really do not care. My dealer will flash APR onsite. The only time you run into an issue, is if you blow up the turbo or something and they say......."well this thing is chipped, thats why it blew" Then you would have an issue. Other than that, i really dont think they mind. They only mind if you chipping your car costs them money when they have to fix something under warranty that would not have normally blown if not for the chip / flash.

Audicare doesn't matter because it is not a warranty. It is basically prepaid service.

I realise audicare is a maintenance service the point is my GIAC switcher is of no value with this flash. My GTI however since it is a turbo is noticeable just moving it it from parking area to to the garage bay for service. You really have to drive this S4 with GIAC like you stole it to notice this tune which I do. The donkey driving the car in gor aervice wouldnt noyice this. I'm now using about 10% more fuel with this flash as I am really pushing her. They had to crack open the ECU to do this flash so regardless I who does this flash Audi service if they put their mind to it can see that any of our cars are flashed be that APR, Revo and or GIAC.

The bottom line is the dealer will care and won't fix your car knowing that they will not be paid for the work they do cause corporate knows you have a tune.

A lot of things that fail or break can easily be tied to an ECU tune even if the tune had nothing to do with it. Thus allowing Audi to deny a whole lot of work they would have normally just done.

The power is taken out of the dealers hands and is placed in the person who pays, in this case Audi of America or perhaps Audi Canada.

Its going to make for some very interesting reading over the next few years. The cat and mouse game with the tuners will be turned up a lot.

Remember APR as an example has dealer scan tools and I am sure will invest in anything new to make sure they can work to hide things.

The game will continue however Audi has made a strong move on this.

I'm out of full warranty in 10,000 km so I could care less if Audi Canada is aware of this flash. The purpose of my post is to make you guys aware that this tune isn't noticeable pulling the car in and out of the garage my the Audi mechanic. I watched the guy do my flash and saw that they have to pry open the ecu. If the dealer had checked my ecu they would be able to tell it was tampered with. anyway....

I don't think Audi will fail to honor the Audi Care services since you (or previous owner) already paid for them. I have been following the other thread and it seems that the issue there is with powertrain warranty concerns that Audi would have to pay for. Sadly it comes down to who is paying the bill and Audi Care is not resolving an issue but rather doing basic maintenance so it shouldn't be an issue.

How would they be able to tell that its been tampered with? If they can tell, then can tell for any tune then.
