I think I may part ways with the under mount KKK flange shin-dig turbo set up. I'm getting a little sick of having to pull the entire manifold assembly just to get to the turbo, I'm tired the KKK flanges, I'm tired of having not having access to the turbos waste gate, and I'm tired of these ~1 time semi-expensive ball bearing ~throw away Garret turbos, hell, I wouldn't even mind tossing the coolant line and go with a strictly oil cooled turbo.

I love the very responsive fast fast spool of my GT2871R, I like the power, I do not want to start screwing around with internals so my options are limited I take it. I see these SPA manifolds all the time for sale, yet I never see these SPA manifolds in use [confused].

I wish I was maf-less, oh the joy of not having the bundle of connections, clamps, bends, adapters & vac hoses coming off the front end of my turbo looking like something off the set of the Matrix. I would care to have a v-band style test pipe kinda set up instead of screwing with all those studs and nuts, I would care to have a t-25 style mating system for the turbo. So, talk so me possibly about a full frame ~GT28 or GT2871 (r ?) or what you're thinking:

On the side note, I'm not going to bled through the nose for this set up, so directing me to a $900 manifold or $1800 turbo I appreciate but that's a little over kill & 2nd hand isn't so outta the picture. Thanks!

You can go with a PSI T25 manifold if you want to stick with a internal wg turbo and get a ATP 5 bolt to V-band adapter you can weld to the housing if you don't want to worry about the studs/bolts backing out. Other option would be to do the PSI/T25 setup and go with the PSI 5 bolt test pipe. You don't have to spend $1800 to get a high quality turbo that will spool up really quick and give you the power your looking for.

id say look for used stuff if you wanna save money. i got a turbo, manifold, dp, and full borla exhaust for $1000 a couple weeks ago. however you did say you were tire of one time use garrett turbos and ive been told ball bearing turbos are not rebuildable. so either you gotta buy a whole chra, or you could look into a journal bearing. but my advice is look for something used. i saved an assload and deals are to be had

Hey do like I did. I kept my GTRS, changed the exhaust housing to a T-3 V-band exhaust housing, then went with an external waste gate. Im pretty satisfied with a log manifold, since Im not a person trying to have the most HP, but I wanted an easier way to access all my parts and kept the awesome driveablity of my GTRS.

And the way it sits now. I would still re-route some lines but Im too lazy to do it now. lolol

That is true for the Garrett ball bearing CHRA, while the triple ceramic ball bearing CHRA from Comp Turbo can be serviced and rebuilt.

Whats the difference in driveability? Spool faster, slower, better sustained boost? And are you doing a wastegate dump or reroute back to to the exhaust? I was going to your route, but I picked up an eliminator for a steal, and decided to just use the eliminator until I really wanted to go bigger, that is if I ever get around to installing it.

Look at my thread I have a picture of a gt2871r with the SPA manifold, I just put back on the front end today. I'm running a completely stock motor as well, I haven't driven it yet but I'm kinda wishing I got a 3071r or equivelent and just running 18-20psi.

All you would have done is purchased slower spooling, seeing you can only push the stock motor so far. The GT2871R can break your motor, so that is a good choice. There is only one person (Jumboblack1.8t) I recall who used a GT3071R(T25 flange) on the stock block, and he didn't run it more than 15psi. Better choice would have been the Comp Turbo version of it. I wish I went that route, but I didn't even know about Comp Turbo at that time.
