View Full Version : Highest Quality Spacers?

Gentlemen,
I've tried searching but couldn't seem to find a recent thread that discusses what the current consensus is on spacers for our cars.
I will be putting my summer Ti stockers back on soon but have been spoiled by the fitment of the VMR 19x9.5in ET45 wheels I've been using through the winter.. I'd like to maintain that flush fit.
I noticed a couple of people using H&R 15mm/20mm (F/R)..this seems like the flush look I'm going for with the stock wheels.
Any complaints regarding the H&R spacers? any higher quality options out there?
Just wanted to make sure I haven't missed anything as far as new entries into market..
Regards,
L

I have ECS spacers on my stock 18's. No problems at all after 3months. Speeds up to 140mph no vibration. Make sure everything is nice and clean before you install them.

I use these guys: http://www.motorsport-tech.com/. They are fast and made to order. And the quality is great in my opinion.
I have after market wheels. On my 19"'s i use 5mm in the back only and my 18"'s i use 3mm if the front and 5mm in the back.
And I do not get any vibration whatsoever.

H&R are top quality. Don't use 15/20 on your Ti rims !! they will poke by a lot

Thanks for the advice gents!
I'm either going to go ahead with ECS 5mm/10mm or skip the spacers all together and avoid any possible headaches..
Will keep you posted[drive]

you might instead pick-up another set of VMR 19x9.5 and wrap em with your stock tires =D i vote the v718s.
few extra bucks but will sure look and fit nicely.

Shameless plug: Willing to part with my 19x9.5 ET45 VMR 710's finished in "Hyper Silver" ... purchased these back in Nov direct from VMR..after this mild winter I'd say the wheels are a 9/10 condition wise.
I'd prefer a local deal, so the buyer can check them out in person before committing.. $750 seems fair for all four (no tires).

Thanks. I'm probably going to go with 5/10 also. I do want to do studs though so I'm going to have to figure out that math problem.

What wheels and what size spacers?
Ian, your car looks sick! Love the black/red contrast look. Splitter looks great as well.
I have H&R 20/25 and I have been riding on them for over 16 months now with no issues whatsoever.

Just to put the word out there..I bought a pair of 8mm ECS Spacers and when I order I atold the guy that I had a 11' B8 S4. I asked if they had did a fit on the spacers and were they able to mount a stock wheel on the with this spacer..I was told yes no problem we have a employe in house that has the same size on his car..Pretty much spoke a lot of BS to get the sale..So I went ahead like a dumb *ss and bought them..The spacers arrive at my house I go to put them on and what do you know..The wheel does no mount on to my car cause the spacer pushed my whel to far off the hub..
Called ECS told them hat has happened and all I got was '' sir lign them up and bolt on..If you tighten them strong enough the wheel ''Shouldnt'' move.????
Shouldt move? Is this a joke?
ECS was willing to do nothing to try and solve this problem or even exchange them for a larger space that would of worked that extended the hub..Tried calling them, emailing them and never nothing..All bcaz they said I tried to mount them so they are now used and they can not take them back..Great customer service was offered clearly
My suggestion to everyone out there is STAY AWAY FROM ECS TUNNING..There nice before you given them money and once they have it they could not care less about you..
Just my 2 cents

Did you use a wheel hanger to install the wheel?
Also I wanted to point out that under each 2-8mm spacer in the B8 section it states at the bottom..
Please Note: Wheel spacers that measure 2mm to 8mm may not allow hubs to protrude enough to keep wheels hubcentric. Please, before ordering, measure to ensure that you will have enough hub extending past the spacer to make contact with the center of the wheel. Adhering to this step will ensure a vibration free ride in your vehicle.
That being said if the spacer is not hub centric you'll need to use a wheel hanging to align the wheel.

Will your black 5mm spacers give me an issue using the stock 19in Ti wheels? I plan on using the 5mm up front. Is this information you have? or do I need to go remove my current wheels off and pull the ti wheels out of storage and start taking measurements?
Also, I'm assuming that I won't have issues using an 11.5mm spacer in the back? That looks like the closest thing to 10mm that you guys are showing on the site.

Yeah I realized that it said that on all the b8 2-8mm thats why i called and asked..And I was told nothing of having to use a wheel hanger I was told it was hubcentric and itll bolt on no problem..And no i am not using a wheel hanger..Those spacers are now in a land fill somewhere in canada as I threw them out cause there useless! False advertising and false information to make a sale is a bad business..

5mm should leave plenty of hub for your wheels to mount on. The 11.5 has the hub extension so there should be no issue as well.

I've never not used a wheel hanger when installing any wheels on an Audi due to them not having wheel studs. 8mm spacers are definitely not hubcentric as you can see. They do not have the hub extension the like 11.5mm and larger spacers. They will absolutely bolt up - just now we took an 8mm spacer and placed it on the B8 hub. It fits with about 1.5-2mm of the hub sticking out.
There's no false advertising in any of that. Could you have been misinformed? Possibly - all apologies if that was the case. I always urge customers to e-mail me or shoot me a PM on the forums if you have any technical questions.

If I can ask both ECS and anyone with real experience here,
ECS website has both H&R 5mm and ECS own brand 5mm spacers.
Can anyone confirm either of these 5mm spacers will fit on the S4B8 (2011 model) using stock 19" OEM rims without vibration or problems?
I know BFI have solved that problem of vibration in their 5mm spacers ans I would buy them however they do not ship overseas :( :(
Thanks

I have 5mm spacers on my personal car (up front) and I don't have any wheel vibration.
Check out the video below for tips about installing wheel spacers and measuring how much space you have to work with to achieve your perfect stance.

I switched to wheel studs to make sure the spacer was seated correctly. Having them make it easier to be certain they are seated correctly. ECS also sells the stud kits...
