As the title states, does anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Somewhat turned into a thread about my personal problems, so a chatterbox move is appropriate if needed

There's really no way to ever know..if they want to track you........they'll do it and you will likely never know it.[:(]

is this regarding that FBI shutting off their tracking devices, and then not being able to retrieve the devices because they can't track - thing?

yes this is an actual question, and no AudiTFSI it wasn't about that but that sounds interesting lol

Hmm in the past they used devices that attached with magnets held to the underbody of the car so you would put the car on a lift and see if you found anything. However since technology has improved I would suspect there are many more possibilities. Trying to answer this seriously. [;)]

Is your ex trying to track you down?
.....it could be anywhere, possibilities are endless.

GPS chips can be the size of a nail nowadays, especially if it doesn't have to be too accurate and is meant to survive a long time on a little battery giving short pulses. magnets & underbody of the car.... way too old school. how about just slipping it under your seat lol
that being said i doubt i'm being tracked. and if a young, brown guy with tattoos and some priors isn't being tracked in america, idk who is lol

Fyi, there is a FBI show on the history channel now ha. May check that out...

So many different places but I would recommend getting the car on a lift and checking the undercarriage. Wheel well is an option too.
Does your wife/gf suspect you of cheating?

you never heard of that? I'll have to find the article some where but long story short - FBI illegally tracks cars with GPS tracker, gets in trouble, forced to shut off tracking devices. Now they can't retrieve the trackers because they had to shut em down :D

I have heard of cases where the FBI tracks them and the person finds the device and the FBI tries to say they should get it back haha.
And I know you guys will flame me hard for this but its actually my parents. I know they technically have the right to but its just been getting really tense lately. They keep saying they trust me (which they should, I don't do anything remotely bad) but then my mom goes and makes a twitter and only follows me and openly admits its just to "watch", calls me tonight and forces me to facetime (iphone) with her to prove I'm at home (she didn't say that but its damn obvious)...she covered that one by saying she wanted to see our dog...
I know the majority of you guys are at least low 20's now but does this seem extreme compared to what you guys ever experienced?
EDIT: And threatening to track my iPhone. Also she thought a detention for being late to class 3 times counts as disciplinary action on college applications...fml

I saw the title and immediately thought of you and knew it had to do with your parents... Haven't had this problem happen with my parents yet. Goodluck in the search.

It's way easier for her to track your phone... It's one of the aspects of my job. Though I'm not sure what the current law for civilians or parents to track you via cell towers.
I imagine other than a service that claims to be a property tracker IE: LoJack, that it would be very difficult/exspensive for them to track you legally or illegally.
If they were to have a system like LoJack installed on your car, it would prob have been during a time they had access to your car for a day or two. From there the current programs allow you to view real time movement, location history, it can even text them if your speeding...
All in all I highly doubt your being "tracked" lol

I'm sure I'm getting over paranoid at this point too. They have plenty of chances to use my car too. I've seen several websites offering devices for a few hundred that can store 150 hours of data. Then they need to be removed and dumped on a computer. They could also easily do that which is why I asked about hiding spots in our cars. I also always turn off location services on my phone, unless I need the map. And as far as I know the only way to track it is by having a mutual App with location services on. Unless the phone company can do it via cell towers...
And rodmar, yes she is haha if I was doing everything she thinks I do, I'd have a lot more fun hahaha

I understand that your parents are prob paying for your college, and that's why your on eggshells with them.
But I would prob tell them they are pushing you away from them. I'm sure if it weren't for the collee money you would disassociate yourself from them. You don't want a bad relationship with your parents (I think) I'm not sure what you've done to make them not trust you. But tell them that they can give you some freedom, and trust you. Or that you will find those things elsewhere. (that's what I would do....)
If your dad is anything like mine you'll prob be bumming it at a friends house. And maybe even cutoff lol
But if your parents are worried about you succeeding than you think they would sacrifice theyre stern behavior to at least finish putting you through school? Who knows?!
That's just me, I'm sure fifty other people will chime in with the right Nd wrong way to approach your situation.
I'm the sort of person that is great friends with my parents, but also payed my way through high school and college do there was never really anything my parents could hold over me.
Good luck with however it ends...

If you had something to hide, and were being tracked, it seems they would have busted you for it already. If you don't, who cares if they waste their money on Lojacking you? Oh, and when my car was stolen, they found it missing the rear view mirror. Apparently this is a common location for Lojack to be placed! Hope no one is planning on stealing cars now! :)

I had a MOGO tracking device installed on my last vehicle because someone was saying I was places in my car when I wasnt, so I put a tracking device on ym car. It was installed under the dash on the drivers side I believe. Also, if you have a tracking device you will hear interference with your head unit immediately on start up and intermittently throughout driving. If you have an aftermarket head unit the interference will be louder than vs. stock...
Also, if you want to know if there is a tracking device on your car you could just have an audio installer look at it. When I had a system put in my last vehicle the audio installer mentioned to me that he noticed there was a tracking device, but I already knew this of course.

Thanks for the advice, you were right about them paying for everything but all they are going to do is guarantee I never call them when I leave for school. I'd want to have the friend relationship but she makes everything so awkward all the time. The only thing I've lied about was getting a detention because she thought is was a serious thing. And I've gone to a couple parties without telling them. I don't know what they did in the first place to make me feel like I can't tell them anything. My best friend has a very strict dad but he accepts things, he can stay out late, go to parties, was allowed to hang out alone with his girlfriend. My mom makes me be home by midnight no matter what and live 30 minutes away from all my friends. She also made my sister (who is 21) and her boyfriend (22) stay on completely separate floors in our house when the came back from college to visit...While my friend was allowed to sleep in the same room as his girlfriend last year. If I wanted to get drunk and high every weekend I could easily do just that. I don't understand her at all.

I have nothing to hide apart from lying 3 times this year and going to a couple parties. As a second semester senior, that is nothing. You'd think they would have done it if they were tracking me or they are just waiting to call me out. Although I only drove to one of those three parties so the phone would be more likely, I just don't know how.

Draklore's completely right, I used to go to New Orleans every weekend with my friend whos mom was a crackhead lol and I'm just fine, it's not the people you hang with neccasarily, it's the person you become. I did the military thing, am going to college and got a job to make extra money when I don't even need to work to survive..... Your mom needs to lay off, or she'll end up never seeing you again, and your sister really???? in their 20's I can understand maybe a different room, but totally different FLOORS LOL....When I stay at my GF's parents house to visit, I sleep in a different room, fine with me lol, but it's litterally across the hall, I just respect their boundries, but your mom's boundries are going to far. Hope you enjoy the college experience and she doesn't ruin it.

I smoked weed with my mom when i was 17, she let my GF at the time live with us when she "got kicked out" in grade 12. Bought me booze before i was legal etc etc...
I feel sorry for you son, I'm 29 now and don't think any of that affected my life in negative ways.
I honestly don't know if I'll ever have kids, but man i am gonna be one twisted parent if it happens.

haha god damn, a mix between those two extremes is what I need. I get why they are strict, but I'd have to screw up beyond belief to affect my college chance. I've already been admitted several places and the rest are due April 1st. I would need to get expelled or get a straight 2.0gpa for anyone to take back any acceptances. Not sure if it would be better to force her to admit that she doesn't trust me and go from there or what. I know my situation is far from bad considering they bought me an audi and pay for school but I'd trade the car for a civic and some chill parents

American, so no they are not strict asian parents if that's where you were going haha.
not going to give a lot of details but my mom is a former ceo...if that also adds some clues. keyword is former, as in currently not working at all...lucky me

HA! Take it back! I'd rather go back in time and go to military school than to have to drive a Civic for 12 years like I did! [headbang]
Luckily mine were cool, but I was a good kid up until the 12th grade, other than driving my car like Bo and Luke Duke from the day I got my license at 16 till I was about 21 (luckily didn't kill myself). Then I started rockin the ganj and drinking, but still graduated college with honors. I guess I'd try the honest approach and tell them you are a good kid, point out that you've never given them a reason not to trust you, and until you do, chill the F out! [:D]

Not yet, I still have to hear back from the harder colleges (USC, Emory, and couple more). So far I like IU (Indiana University) the most out of where I've gotten in.

if there is one in your car you will be able to tell by dropping your driver side underdash. regular electrical tape will lead the way, probably to the passenger side underdash/behind glovebox. pull the weather stripping at the a-pillars might be some clues there.

haha I like, too bad I couldn't care less about what she does. She'd just say she wouldn't care and that the only reason I would care is because I lie...couldn't possibly be the simple fact that its an invasion of privacy or anything
