Hey guys, I just wanted to share a simple cheap mod I did last week. I have a 2011 6spd, with an awe catback with stock downpipes. I love the sound most of the time, but back and forth from work sometimes I was finding it a little too loud at lower rpm's and heavier load. I've really been on the fence about getting the resonated downpipes, partly because of the cost, but mostly because I like it being loud most of the time. So I was snowboarding the other day and had to have the seat folded down for the boards to fit and it obviously made it louder but even more it resonated more(drone?). So afterwards I was looking under the parcel shelf and there is a couple of holes in the metal right about in the middle which I assume are for the air from the sub(base stereo, no b&o). I decided to try covering the holes with a piece of dynamat 10-10 inches. It's just enough to seal the about 4inch square hole and the narrow one next to it, figured for $20 it was worth a shot. I immediately noticed less resonance and it was slightly quieter. Of course when the windows are open it's just the same(perfect). I was worried about the bass in the stereo being affected but it sounds better...bonus. I wasn't going to post this here because It's pretty minor and around here people like to rip you apart, but my wife and a friend drove my car yesterday from Vancouver down to Seattle to go shopping(I know), and the said to me did you change something in your car? It sounds better.

A4 crowd has had similar experience - although dynamat may not be the best performer...

Would this work on the avant as well?
