If you have to ask this question then you obviously have not taken the time to look at the superior craftsmenship put into this car. Not to mention it has been part of the Audi family since 1996.

Actually the one I test drove was 1 thousand less than the Jetta on the VW showroom floor. It was 2.0T FWD 6spd. Car felt much much different than that of my A4. More so like our Jetta. From the way it was put together to the feeling in the steering wheel. However I am still considering S-Line for my next car purchase.

I drove it, and I was impressed. I drove the base base model with frontrash and no extras, and I was quite impressed. it felt solid going along the rough DC road. I think that's an awesome little car with some distinction.

All of that is always shared among the vag cars, its just that you never had an A3 in the US so you're not familiar with it...this is how they reduce costs...

so does VW make parts for the A8 NO!

It most definately is a Audi, and a damn good one at that.

Let's not get into VW parts sharing, the two companies are one and I like that fact...

You'll find that they do...many components are shared, especially items such as air conditioning, electrics, wiring harnesses etc. Externally parts are unique but deep down in the car they share multiple parts.

Yup, but he didnt know that, so I'm thinking we should punish him for having to ask if the A3 is "for real" and if the A8 had VW parts...

What I will say is I have a had a 96 A4, a 98 A4 avant, a 2002 A4 avant, an 04 A3 S-line and now have an A4 Cabrio, oh and various mercs and BMW's as well in between and the A3 is the best one of the Lot, for pure fun.

Does it matter if the car shares parts from others in the VW/Audi group? See you have an S4 from your avatar, which is just a tweaked Skoda Octavia isn't it? ;)

Different kind of story here in Finland, the base model starts from something like 32k$, and my car cost about 55-60k$

It's all about the taxes here...
