View Full Version : Dealer Says I Can Still Order New 2012 S4?

Hi,

I want to buy a 2012 S4, but I've have read on here that dealers will no longer take orders. I went to my local dealer to inquire (on 2/24), and after the sales person said "yes, we still have an allocation, but you'll have to place your order within the next two weeks" (two weeks from 2/24/2012). For July delivery.

This seems to go against everything I've read elsewhere, that Audi's production of 2012 S4's has stopped. I wanted to order Premium Plus, Sports Diff, Nappa, Keyless Start and B/O. So it's an odd build - no Nav, no 19" wheels, no parking sensors.

I don't know what the dealer would have to gain from taking an order and then months down the road saying "oh, there was a problem, yada yada...." But I'm skeptical considering everything else I've read.

What's this board's opinion? Has anyone else heard you can still order?

Thanks!

my dealer - the one I ordered from in December - has said that every order option has been taken down for the 2012's. To go in and add the alu-optic option (which is a port installed option so it could still be added to my car) in January we had to go dig up emails with the old order sheets and option codes because they were removed from the site

An allocation means they have a virtual place in line for a car which no one has claimed that has not gotten to within 2 weeks of production. They can put your name on that slot in line and you can modify the order to whatever you like. Once it gets to within 2 weeks, it's in Factory Bank and locked in. Assuming they are being straight with you, this is possible, but it could turn into one of those "Gee we JUST missed the window, but we'll keep your deposit if you walk just because it's a 2013 now."

Audi is still building MY12s right now. They may still have something that's changeable for a short period of time and it may be pushed back to a MY13. There's only one way to find out!

Thanks for the replies, and those perspectives (or experience?) helps.

I guess I'll look (again) at what's on the lots this weekend and try to make a decision - it does seem like a fairly big risk ordering one at this point, because I can just hear "it came in, but it's a Prestige, but we'll sell it to you at the higher cost" or "it was a factory mistake, and they took the order as a 2013". I just have to be able to live with the outcome if any of those scenarios become a reality.

As of 2/15, The S4 is no longer available to order as a 2012.

up here in canada there is not a single car available to order, thats as of 3 weeks ago. We checked if any cars on order in the whole contry could be changed still the answer was no. The last car being produced for Canada was built last week as far as I saw.
Id assume the US orders would be similar dates.

Im ordering a 2013 when the order availability begins

Thanks again for all the replies - I think I'll either wait for a 2013 or buy something off the lot that's available now.
