Hey guys,

Just signed purchase agreement for an 09 Audi A4 and very excited to pick it up next week. The business manager gave me till Tuesday to think about extended warranty (if I want to buy it), car has 93,000 KM and comes with 2 years / 160,000 KM. I have the option to get extended warranty 2 extra years (makes it 4 years total) 226,000 KM for an additional $5300. This my first German car and not sure what to do. Please help!

Thanks

Extended warranty through the dealer ship is a rip off. I worked as a salesman and the generally there is quite a mark up, the business manager is telling you Tuesday is the last day is just a ploy to have you commit to forking over the extra dough, he may have ran out of coke that week and need to reload, you are just padding his pockets. I guess if you are financing the vehicle than it could be worth it to factor in extended warranty into your payments. Just go with the 2 yrs from Audi, when it's getting close to the end of factory warranty look into an independent company, just do a search there are a few companies out there. Be sure to look into the fine print, go over in detail what is covered. Bumper to Bumper doesn't mean everything is covered. $5300 for 2 yrs is a little steep, have a good relationship with your service advisor, right before my warranty went out took my car in for service I had him replace over 5k worth of parts & labor.
