Thanks in advance for the replies.
Any GTA dealers have these items in stock.

It depends. It certainly looks nicer. It also gives a louder supercharger whine (but less than the strat). I believe it is less restrictive also due to removing a portion of the airbox that redirects air away from the filter, but you could do the AWE and mod the stock airbox to get something similar. I have the APR intake and am glad I chose it.

Does APR make that intake?

Made by Carbonio for APR

I think most of the price is because of the CF airbox.

Anybody knows if APR intake can be used with a stock filter?
Asked APR but never got the answer. :(

From my Subaru experience I believe filter itself does not add much (if anything) performance-wise compared to a stock one (if replaced often), while this "wet" type of filter can easily damage your engine if not "prepared" right. Especially with dirty roads we have here in Russia.
To my understanding, most performance gains come from redesigned airbox plus tubes, allowing better flow before and after a filter.
So best results always came from aftermarket exhaust with a fresh stock filter.

The damage you're referring to from the "oil" filters is probably damage to the MAF sensor. However, our cars don't have MAF sensors... [:D]

Neither of them are worth it. Remove the snow thing on the stock box, buy a high flow filter from BMC or K&N or AWE and buy a silicon hose.

APR looks the best, that's for sure.

Exactly. But what you are saying is basically the S-flo...hose and a filter, for the cost of a tire. The APR part is real eye candy. The strat ditches the airbox for a heat shield from the exhaust - it definitely looks the most purposeful.
Just don't expect measurable power gains.

except their hose is ridiculously expensive for what it is. Ya its cheaper than a tire. But would you pay $100 for a bag of sugar because it is cheaper than a food processor?

Sure but unless you can form silicone hose into bends, it'll look a little too 'race car'.

I am going with the AWE filter and the APR CF intake tube with a modified stock box.... Under $300 with the similar results and a little bling from the CF.

I like the CF of the Carbonio/APR intake. I picked up a used one at a significant $$$ discount, otherwise there is very little bang-for-your-buck with any intake.

none of the intakes are worth the money but a premium car will always have premium priced parts, and for me the carbon was worth it to dress up the engine bay, the AWE didnt have enough whine for me so i switched to the APR. is it a wasteful use of money? yes. did i need it? no. but i love the carbon im a sucker for it.
my AWE is up for grabs

Did you notice any increase in power with either intake?

power no throttle response yes

Yeah throttle response was something I definitely noticed an increase of after doing the intake.

richib86 - did the AWE add any 'whine' over stock? was there any noticeable difference in response or sound? i'm guessing with software and exhaust, the intakes are fairly neccessary to get more air in.....???

While Im not rich and its not he AWE, I have the Stratmosphere intake and there is definitely an increase in whine over stock
