If you have a RS4 and are in the So Cal area and need a carbon cleaning please feel free to email us.. The dealer doesn't go to this extent to clean the intake ports.

is there anyway of avoiding this kind of build up?

Unfortunately its not- its simply a matter of maintenance and should be factored into a 30k service.

We have developed a tool that properly cleans the port with damaging the port itself, the valve or the valve guides.

Its a time consuming process but when finished the ports look like NEW.

I hope this is a typo.
