There's already a gtg planned for this Sun, 5/1. It should be another huge VW/Audi gathering. Stop on in. There's even guys coming down from Wyoming for this one.

That sucks, my K04 is coming out of the car this weekend[rolleyes] [:(] [mad]

how many cars usually show up?

04-29-2005, 11:00 AM
More than a hundred. Probably a 60/40 VW/Audi ratio. There was a thread on vortex with pix that showed the massive scale of cars.

Here's a link to some pix from the Feb GTG. We try to do it monthly.

Please heed the warnings about mischievous behavior and come with great attitude. This particular meet at the link above brought some guys who thought it'd be fun to do burnouts in the parking garage which brought the wrong kind of attention.

Ouch, sorry to see that Eugene...who forgot to torque the nuts? What's the damage?

05-02-2005, 07:40 PM
noone forgot to, it was a matter of using conversion bolts that had been taken on and off too much and stripped threads. luckily i was only going 5mph and not 60+ on the highway. damage looks to be a scratched wheel (from the rotor) and the fender is gonna need some work.

A friend (with a Saab) put some oil on his wheel bolts, because they had rust on them. Candidate for the Darwin award?

Within 100 miles the front right wheel's bolts fell off on I-70 near Colorado (should I say, the LAST bolt fell off there). Car collapsed on the wheel, rotor damaged the wheel. He said it was pretty easy to stop the car considering what happened!

You didn't miss out on much though. Maybe 10 cars showed up. I stayed for about 15 minutes to chit chat, and then left. It was a pretty miserable day.
