I have a B6 A4 1.8T and i got a check engine light for code (0413) which comes up as secondary air injection. Ive noticed that the pump does not turn on now as it should when the car is first turned on in the morning. I would usually hear that annoying extra noise the pump would do for a few minutes and then turn off. Before when the pump was working, the car would idle at maybe 2000-2300 rpm for a minute or two and then drop to 950-1000 rpm a few seconds after the pump turned off. Now even if its cold (first start of the day) it will idle at like 1200 rpm max and i dont hear the pump turning on. My question is, is there a relay or fuse of some sort that will not allow the pump to turn on or if it doesnt turn on its damaged and needs to be replaced. Also when the car is first started up it idles fine for about 30 seconds, then i hear a "swoosh" sound (kinda like blow off sound) and the car begins to idle rough and jerk a lil. When it drives it drives perfect no problem whatsoever. It boost fine (up to 8-9lbs) and when driving and let go of gas it vacuums at 23-25 in/Hg. But at idle, when the car is idling rough and jerking it vacuums at 8-9 in/Hg and sometimes drops to even 5in/Hg when the idle gets bad. I recently replaced the pressure regulator valve because it had a leak from there. Please if anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks!

First off, your font size is way too big.

Second, 2.3k RPM cold start warm up is rather high. It should have cold start RPM around 1.2-3K RPM and drop down to ~900 RPM when done, as it is doing now.

Third, I assume you meant P0413. Below is what I found for it via Google, as it is not listed on Ross Tech Wiki nor my Bentley Manual.

EOBD II Error Code: P0413

Fault Location:
Secondary air injection (AIR) solenoid A - open circuit

Possible Cause:
Wiring open circuit.
Secondary air injection (AIR) solenoid.
Engine control module (ECM).

The only SAI solenoid I know if is located underneath the IM, on a bracket bolted to the intake manifold. It is called the n112 solenoid. There is a vacuum line that goes from that to the combination valve located on the back of your cylinder head, then to the SAI pump. The code says you have an open circuit on the solenoid (If I am correct). I would start with simply checking the wiring for that solenoid and sprayingthe connectors with electric parts cleaner. Also check the fuse for the SAI. After that, I would then try replacing that solenoid. I am by no means an expert, but that is what I would do if I were you. Maybe someone else will chimme in with better advice.

Also try posting this in the B6 A4 section. They are really helpful. But please don't use such large font over there. You may get flamed for it (if you don't know what I mean by flamed, you should Google it). But you have been wraned[cool].
