Is anyone tuning this? I would really like to get some protection for the oilpan, but since i got the hotchkis bar the original wouldn't fit. Is there some custom made ones for this setup?
Thanks.

Jon.

Call Evolution You prolly shit outta luck tho. That front sway bar really help that much?

You'd either have to cut the skidplate to allow some room for the Hotchkis bar, or ditch the Front sway and go back to stock, which is prob your best bet.

Im sitting on the other side of the world, and was hoping not to sit for hours try to make myself understood by speaking bad english language for $7 pr minute. I did not actually now that this swaybar was non compatible with the skidplate. Only asking if anyone knows if there has been done some similar setups. I will PM evolution and diesel geeks to hear.
The swaybar is great to drive with though. Got hotchkis both front and rear and the car feels great. Real thight.

I mean, you could always take a piece of cardboard, cut it just how you want it, then take it to a metal shop and have them make you a 3/16" aluminum plate. Just get some angle aluminum and bolts

just cut around the sway bars. i made my own skidplate and i run hotchkis S4 sway bars. skidplate is flat, and not "stepped" like the thor skid plate. i traced my stock bellypan on a sheet of aluminum and then lined it up and cut how i needed it to be.

I know this is an old thread but its the only one that I found with custom skid plates.

I was just wondering if this was ever done or if it was ditched.

I plan on making a semi custom skid plate reinforcement with some aluminum stock I have sitting around. I know some people may say just get the thor or other plate but this is more of a fun project/something I would like to try. My plastic plate is in okay to rough condition (have thought about plastic welding it back together where it has broke) and I just want a bit more protection without paying a ton of money and I already have the stock so why not give it a shot.

I plan on making 'runners' for lack of a better word because there is no way around the mountain of speed bumps going down my street and even going 1 mph I scrap daily.

This will just extend the life of my stock plate. If it doesn't work out who knows I may just buy a pre-fab'd metal one but for now this is the route I'm going.

Any thoughts?

I have the diesel geek on my b7, and had one on my b5 years ago, it is a pretty quality piece. What do you mean by runners? Are you talking about fastening aluminum strips to the bottom of your stock plastic plate? I'm not sure that I would suggest that. I know I split a pan on my b5 s4 right after I got it, and the way it was baffled inside the bottom of the pan, it sort of sheared itself right on the edge of one of the vertical baffles. I don't know what the b7 pan looks like on the inside, maybe they are different, but if not it seems like solid pieces that will move independently from each other might just eat up more space between the pan and the road and bring you that much closer to splitting a pan.

Well as of right now I'm just looking at different ideas but yes runners as you suggested were an idea except the pieces I have are about 8 inches wide and 3/8 inch think (and 8 foot+ long lol) so if I did create runners I could pretty much cover the entire thing and I don't see anything breaking through that think of stock but hell I've been wrong before.

I am going to run through a bunch of different designs on monday and see if I cannot come up with something. Doesn't cost me anything since the stock was left over from a buddies race car project and if I waste it oh well :D

Something like that would probably be ok, I had little strips in my head for some reason.

No they are quite large lol. I have some thin metal I plan on using to patch up the broken areas with rivets. Then I got some truck bed liner to coat the entire thing it make it look less awful. It may not be the prettiest thing when I am done but it will sure be a lot stronger and do its job well (so I hope) and it cost me a total of a few bucks :D.

If it works cool, if not ill end up buying a metal skid plate and just bite the cost.

Anybody have pics of how the hotchkis messes with the belly pan? I ask because I have a b5 and simply used spacers and spaced the pan more to compensate the bigger bar. Been running it for years. The spacers actually come with the Thor plate and I think are for auto tranny fitment. But I used i for this problem and it works.
