Curious, what cars have you raced in your B8 S4?

Track or Street... Did you WIN or LOSE, let's hear some stories!

I'll start... (this all happened in Mexico of course)

A few weeks ago on my way back from the beach I ran into a guy with a stock 2008 Aston Martin DB9 Volante and wanted to play. I pulled him by nearly three car lengths from 40-90 mph. We did several rolling start runs, same results every time. He had a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12... I guess there really is replacement for displacement. [evilsmile]

Ran into a 2009 Corvette LS3 Automatic last night at a light... my GF who was in the passenger seat looked over at him and showed the let's race hand gesture. He chuckled a bit and said "In That? LMAO!" Obviously he never heard of the S/RS Audi models. First run (rolling start) the S4 gave that Vette a good beat down. He then caught back up and said "holy sh*t... what in that thing?!?" I said "Just A V6." He said "NO WAAYY!"... I replied "well it is supercharged!" He said "oohhhhh ok". Then he actually challenged me to "race from a dig"... My face lit up like an 8 year old on Christmas morning. "OOOOKKKK, if that's what you want!" [facepalm] So we turned down to an abandoned road and lined up. I honked 3 times and he took off right before I did the third honk and took the lead until my car launched from 3k and flew right past him and eventually gained almost two car lengths on him up to 90.

Other cars...
Regular C5 Vette (WIN)
Modified C5 Vette Z06 (SEVERELY LOST)
Pontiac GTO 6.0 (WIN)
Ferrari 360 (NECK AND NECK THE WHOLE TIME)
Ferrari 355 (WIN)
BMW 335i stock (WIN)
E92 BMW M3 stock (WIN)
E46 BMW M3 w/Dinan parts (WIN)
New Mustang GT 5.0 (WIN)
Tons of other previous Gen Mustangs GT (WIN)
Tons of Ricers (BEYOND WIN)
Audi R8 4.2 (WIN)
Audi S5 cab (WIN)

I've got a guy with a JB4 tuned 335i automatic that I met at a car meet a few weeks ago who wants to run our cars sometime in the next week. Will try and make a video for YouTube, wait for the results!

2008 stock e92 m3, 2 pulls from 3rd gear @ 50-110.. my trunk was about half car length ahead of his hood, also one pull from 2nd gear @ 40ish-130.. my trunk was almost a full car length ahead of his hood by 130.

2008 e92 6mt, 335i, cobb ecu, catback exhaust, meth.. 3 pulls from 3rd gear @ 50ish, i pull ahead at first, and gain a couple feet everytime he would shift... by 120 his hood is right around where my trunk is (i've got vids of this, will post up later)

Those are the only somewhat scientific runs i've done, while in mexico ofcourse.

C'mon not true! I mentioned that I severely lost to a modified C5 Z06!

But overall, it would be fair to say that the S4 is pretty quick and can outperform 99% of stock production cars on the road today. [:D]

The B8 S4 is quite the....

Same engine, I can participate [:p]

C55 AMG (Win by a small margin, Stage I at the time)
Ferrari California (Loss)

Only Stage 1+ (ecu tune and exhaust) at the time. Was at a stop light late at night with girlfriend sitting shotgun. Two guys roll up in a Ferrari California with the top down. I had my windows down and the passenger said, "Nice car...." and gave me this smirk like "yeah, it's nice but I'm in a Ferrari." I replied, "Nice car," as well. Driver revved and light turned green, I was in manual mode... wasn't sure if he was actually going to go, however. He starts off pretty hard, enough to chirp his wheels. I just mash the throttle while in M1 and take him up to about 60 mph... Then he came pulling past me pretty hard... Car sounds very nice.

I gave him a wave and thumbs up. Next light he rolls up next to me, motions for me to roll down the window and says, "What the hell do you have done to that? That WAY faster than I thought it would be." Shame I wasn't Stage II at the time.

Made me happy. You Stage II S4 guys would have given him a good run.

Ferrari California (Loss)...

Agreed. Correct me if I am wrong, but the specs on the California damn near equal that of the APR tuned S4. S4 APR Stage I will at least be on par and the Stage II may very well even pull on the California up until the triple digits.

I calculated the S4 numbers below using the figures provided from APR and adding a 20% DTL.

S4 w/Dual Clutch (APR Stage I 93)
3.0 Supercharged V6
Launch Control: YES
Curb Weight: 3,924 lbs
CHP: 450 (est.)
CTQ: 430 (est.)
Drag Coefficient: 0.28 Cd

* 73 MORE ft/lbs torque
* BETTER drag coefficient

California w/Dual Clutch (Stock)
4.3 Naturally-Aspirated V8
Launch Control: YES
Curb Weight: 3,825 lbs
CHP: 460
CTQ: 357
Drag Coefficient: 0.32 Cd

* 10 more HP
* 99 lbs LIGHTER
* LESS drivetrain loss

Modified indeed. Before I knew it, that thing was GONE, I was completely shocked at the time. Male driver - I assumed he was driving his gf's car at first. Now I think it's all part of his cover to hustle unsuspecting suckers like me.

Power to weight ratio... You kind of have to pick your battles wisely.. I have never really gone up against someone I didnt know I could beat or thought I could beat. My buddy has a GTR Skyline black edition.. You wont see me going to race him anytime soon.. or ever for that matter haha i would do it for fun to see how fast something dissappears in the distance but that maybe after the headers intake and tune wars are over :) Maybe if i can get down to mid 11s.

I should describe to you the feeling of a Switzter GTR here in Mexico vanishing before my eyes.. But it would require more therapy.. Or a Kleeman C63.. Oh those days make me wanna do a quick trade in at the local dealer.. Lol

I have raced a lot of cars when I shipped the car down to Mexico one weekend. A Lot of losses, but to obvious cars. Not ashamed of posting it. 95% of these were done on a secret road in Mexico that is smooth ground and closed off for about 2 Miles)

E92 M3 (Have him beat from dig-170KM then he pulls me in and goes bye to me)
E92 M3 (First gear rolling start till about 160ish-70ish again I have him then he goes bye)
E92 M3+Gintani Race+Smaller Pulley+Ecu Tune+After Market Air box (Have him from a dig to about 140, then its no match, first gear the same thing till about 140)
E92 IND-625 (Supercharged) (Loss)
Switzter GTR (I WON I WON I WON [=(])
2009 GT500 Shleby (Loss)
Tuned Colbalt (Destroyed him)
599 GTO (Loss)
Italia (Loss)
V10 R8 (Loss)
4.2 R8 (Loss)
RS4 with just Militek Exhaust (Kinda won kinda neck and neck after one pt)
SRT 8 Charger (Won)
SRT 8 Challenger (Won)
Mustang 2011 V6 (Won)
Subara STI (Won)
370z/Nismo (Won)
350z/Nismo (Won)
335 Stock (Won)
Lambo Muci (Loss)
Lambo Gallardo (Loss)
California (Loss)
911 Turbo (Loss)
911 Carerra S (Won)
911 Carrera 4S (Close, but I loss)

All of these were done a year ago tho. Now I dont even dare go down the road of going to Mexico and doing stuff. Mainly cuz I am barely driving due to living under textbooks.

I've had a few interesting ones:

Jeep GC SRT8 - (won) Multiple stoplight pulls, launched harder and would pull to 60 mph by 1 length or so
Camaro SS - (won) Highway pull in the Alps - 60-90 and I had to let off to stay off his bumper
2010 or 2011 (can't tell the diff) GT500 - (loss) Highway pull - not as bad I thought, but definitely a loss
2011 STi - (even) Highway pull - couldn't really get a clear road (lots of stray cattle in Mexico blocking the lanes) but when we did it was about even
E92 M3 - (won) - Highway pull 50-80 (South African Highlands) slowly pulled a length over this distance

I love shipping my car around the world to drive on the finest highways!!

Have you really raced all those cars in the one month you've had your S4? Not doubting you... I'm just jealous that the people there (in Mexico of course) seem to be lining up at every light for you. Much quieter in the city in Mexico where I drive around. Lots of fancy cars but nobody wants to push them.

just a 370z up an incline. At about 120ish he was slowly catching up from a car length back, but had to call it quits. i rarely race, save it for the track

I've had the S4 for a little over six weeks now. LOL, yes... I did really race ALL of those cars. Either I met them at various car meets (around Mexico), ran into them at a light while coming back from dinner with my misses, or on the highway (German Autobahn) while on a late night drive, etc... I will def start making more videos for proof. I just don't usually make videos because if I am the only one in the car my priority is on keeping my eyes on the road - remember safety comes first... That's practically a race a day. Sounds like they should film the next Fast and Furious in your town! Do you have a really long commute to work with lots of stoplights along the way? I live and work downtown so not many opportunities present themselves, and there's a cop every block.

That's exactly what I was thinking, bear! Mind you, I've only had this car for a bit over two months, but just one quick run with a 335i on the highway.
Nothing even close to a stoplight contest or any sort of 60-100 pulls.
Maybe I don't drive through the right areas of our Mexican town.

Honestly I drive my car so low key but It seems like every car around the corner is trying to get at me. I just kindly pretend to launch the car hard at the green and let the dude fly off into a speed trap that I know is waiting ahead (my area has a ton of traps)

We all def def need to get together in the spring time and ill take you and kavan to the 2 mile stretch that is closed off. most amazing road to have safe controlled fun in.. its a bit west of downtown (take the gardener and you gotta pass the lakeshore 2 exit) know it off by heart. Hopefully ill have a ecu flash in the car by then and hopefully the exhaust.. so it wont be just you and kavan flying by me all the time :(

The most memorable races are...

friend's 400whp evo 8: Beat me by a quarter of a car length
2010 BMW M5 w/ exhaust: Beat him by a quarter of a car length from 0-80...Go quattro!
friend's 2010 Jeep srt8 with exhaust & intake: Killed him from 3rd gear pull
BMW e46 m3: Beat him
My brother's 2010 wrx w/ catback exhaust, tune, and intake: Beat him by half a car length
Stock sti's: killed

My car at the time had just a strat intake :)

I was bone-stock, had a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 (2010?) tailing me on my way to Waterfest on RT-18 this year.
We came to a light I decided to take him. He was alone, I had my buddy with me in my car.

Wound up jumping ahead of him off the line and stayed about a full car length ahead the entire time up to around 115mph when I had to let off because of traffic ahead and in fear of a cop seeing me. [=(]

Got my APR tune a few hours after that and was hoping to see him again [:D].

Honestly 81bear can tell you himself. Ive honestly taken a huge step back from modding the car. Only due to the fact that ive been mad busy with a lot of other commitments. But at the same time I do not have a good history of sending important packages across borders only to have them sit at customs for weeks. And I am a bit hesitant. Only have an intake right now (APR) but if GIAC, Revo, or APR can start allowing dealers to just fully flash the ECU. Then ill be on it before you can say Flash Please.

Do not care which Tune I go with. Just the tune that allows me not to ship my ECU over a border. But def going to be grabbing a long over due Militek Exhaust from Strat in Feb/March when the weather gets a lot nicer.

I'm in for the spring, really curious as to where that spot is off lakeshore!

I would highly recommend the trip to Strat for the Milltek exhaust. I have nothing but good things to say about Strat as well as my Miltek exhaust!

FWIW, I have shipped the ECU cross boarder twice and had no issues. If you send it next day air via UPS they will get the packaged cleared immediately and you will not be charged any additional brokerage fees, etc.

One more I forgot...

2012 Audi S4 - (win) 0-40 sprint from stoplight, I had him by a length. Brand new beautiful red 6MT and didn't look like he had the launch figured out just yet - it still had temp tags on it. He pulled up beside me and asked if I was 'chipped'. I just told him DSG - so I guess he was trying to keep up, but probably bogged it pretty bad.

Count me in for the spring get-together too!!!

I have raced my buddy's auto 335xi with JB4 (map 5) a bunch times in Mexico, on our way to taco bell.

We usually race from a stop. His car feels WAYYY faster when comparing passenger experiences. But the key word here is "FEELS"... because for some reason I always see him in my rear view mirror when it comes race time. Easy car length between us.

My Car: DSG - Strat intake and AWE exhaust with resonated DP.

That would be the spooling of his turbos. They just give a rush that nothing else can from my little experience.
