Hey guys im requesting personal info from anyone who has tried different sway bars. EX the stock to the OEM RS4 bar to the upgraded RS4 bar from H&R. or if anyone has just the upgraded RS4 bar do you feel that it is much to stiff for DD driving.

yes i realize there are a lot of debates about the OEM RS4 RSB but im asking about the H&R upgrade for the RS4 and this bar is anouther 2mm thicker than the stock OEM RS4 bar. i havent seen anyone talk about it so im jw if anyone has tried and didnt like it or whatever.

There are a lot of threads on sway bars. Yes the RS4 and H&R are both great. Going to 22mm make a huge difference. You get a more pancake feel around the corners. Well worth the money for performance that is granted.

i know there are a lot of threads about it and i have read mayb 60% of them but i havent had the feel of the 24mm on our 2.0 cars. i just wanna know if its overkill since our engines are a lot less weight.

If you can notice a 2mm difference in RSB... Then yes it's worth the money.

Do it. It's my advice. As soon i put the RS4 SB, i felt a difference. I regret that i didn't do that mod on my Jetta.

Still satisfied with mine since I put it on last year! Do it, either way you wont regret it. 2 mm doesn't stiffen it to the point where its bad

I just put the OEM RS4 bar on my avant and it is perfect. It feels great, like how the car should have come in the first place. Great mod for a great price, I think ECS had free shipping on them too FYI.

Try posting in the RS4 forum?

It really up to you. Ive upgraded to the Stock RS4 RSB (haven't installed it yet though) because I figured the extra couple mm wasn't worth the extra money (got my RS4 for cheap). But if you've posted in the RS4 forum, they may be able to give you more insight on differences they felt between the stock and H&R sways. Different engine, however its just added input for you to use when deciding.

Honestly, for how much you'd pay for the H&R bar, I would go OEM RS4 bar. Its much cheaper and you'll likely not notice the difference. Especially if you don't track the car. Its definitely the next mod on my list. Just need to get the engine 100% first...

Bigger (EDIT: that is to say stiffer) does not mean better. Despite what you often hear here, it's rarely a good choice (and very often a bad choice) to take things to the widest, stiffest, lowest, etc. It's not rocket science, but I would err on the conservative side on this issue and stick with the RS4 bar. Even then you might want to consider addressing the front bar to balance things out.

yes, keep in mind that it's not just the diameter of the sway bar, but also the materials that it's made with. so it's possible that a 22mm swaybar is stiffer than a 26 mm swaybar, depending on what materials it's made with, and how thick the swaybar is inside (they're usually hollow).

here's some background info on swaybars and how they work:
