Hi all. I hope you can help. The other boards have not been any help at all. I have a 03 Audi A4 1.8t I bought it without a key and the cluster had a DEF error. I just got everything to adapte to the ecu and cluster but prior to this I had a bad "virgin" cluster sent to me and the dealer tried to adapte it to the ecu(They couldn't) at the same time they also did a recall on my fuel pump and coils.

Prior to this I could crank the car over and it would start and then die. Now the car just cranks. I check the fuel lines and there is no fuel coming through the lines(Correction very very very little and not steady). I check the voltage at the pump idle is 1.8v and cranking is 10-12v. There is not priming noise.

I checked the codes in vagcom and I didnt get any codes(Minus Headlight bulbs).

I am pretty sure I got a faulty pump(just my luck) is there any way that I can bypass the fuse/relay so that the pump see a constant voltage to force the pump to prime? I have a 2nd pump laying around in storage but its like finding a needle in a hay stack plus if the pump that the dealer installed is bad i want them to pay for towing and new part.

Thanks in advance

Ever consider the relay being bad? If you want to force prime the system, open up the relay and hold it closed.

And I noticed you are new to the forum board. If you post in the B6 A4 section, I am sure you will get some help.

Hey Thanks. Sorry I guess I wasn't paying attention where I posted this. If someone can move it for me.

Btw while that is getting done. I replaced the relay and nothing.

Hmmm, who installed this fuel pump for you? I don't have a B6, but a B5. And the wiring is funny, so I am thinking that could possibly be an issue. On my pump, the brown wire is negative and the black wire is posotive. Weird, I know. But it was causing me massive headaches till I figured that issue out (simply wired it wrong). To test the fuel pump, take is out of the tank and place a 12v power source to it (I use my car battery for this, but safely).

And don't expect anybody to move this thread for you (if you do, you're lucky). It does belong here, but would get much more feedback if placed in the B6 A4 section. Just make a new thread there.

if pump runs replace fuel filter, NOT a LIFETIME service as we are told
