View Full Version : boost problem on b5 a4 1.8t ko4-15

I have an 01 a4 1.8t awm with borg ko4-15. I used to boost around 20 and hold 17-18 but now i only hold 10psi. I changed the file i was using to pass inspection because i eliminated the sai and wouldnt pass readiness so i had a tuner make me a custom file to pass all the readiness. He told me to flash the original file back after the inspection so i did. After my long drive down to SC i realized i wasnt boosting what i should be. I noticed my FPR wasnt secure enough and was leaking small amounts of fuel the whole way down i suppose. I bought a new one but still wasnt boosting over 10. I have found no leaks other then that my turbo inlet hose loosens up and slides forward a little but that would just throw my maf off because of the unmeasured air being taken in past it. so would that throw me into a low limp mode maybe? I havent reflashed the tuned file yet, i havent had the time but i will soon. Any thoughts? i have no codes and dont have a voltmeter to check my n75 but when i disconnect it i get the open circuit code and when i reconnect it the code goes away so im guessing its getting voltage. Also my DV is a piston style that i bought off ebay, i know i know, never buy ebay car parts but i took it apart and it is the same style as my friends forge and i installed the stiffer spring as well, so i dont believe thats it but i am suspecting it because under light load i have somewhat slow acceleration and pretty much no boost till i get on it in any gear. any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

I too am having basically the same problem i've been getting anywhere from 15 down to 10 psi i reset my ecu thinking that would fix it... took it for a quick drive same thing took off my air filter to see if it was clogged up maybe that didnt work. i left it off for a lil bit and drove it home out of nowhere it started boosting normal. next morning i put the filter back on take it down the block boosting fine still drive about 10 miles and goto check it again and back to the 10 psi range sometimes a lil higher if i disconnect the hose from the wastgate it boost high no problem so im thinking its the n75 but im still not sure .... sorry for rambling i also have the j vale laying around so i placed that in it boost past 20 then gets crazy going up and down from 10 to 15 psi up and down and up and down wish i had another n to try any help plz realy appreciat it and im glad someone else is having this same issue i didnt want to start a thread lol

No help yet :( seems as though I can hear my Turbo alot more like maybe my dv. Is stuck open I'm gunna take it apart tomorrow and clean it out lube it with a light oil and run the car ill let ya know if this fixes my problem
