i got a seibon carbon fiber trunk for my B7 about Two months ago... i have been waiting on a DTM rear bumper (long story) that came in the mail this week.. so the car is almost done... the shop called and said the rear license plate will not fit!! i went down to the shop and the plate is to tall to fit... do i have to make a bracket to push it out so it is not at a angle or do i trim the plate down??????
no its likely you got the EURO version of the trunk, which in my opinion is better, but each has their own. I would just have it angled down from the top corner if i was your in position
definitely throw up some pics tho, i have been thinking about getting this same trunk lid

I'm assuming you got this one:

It sort of looks like it should fit but if it doesnt, just bend it on bottom or top, should be fine i guess.

dont bother putting the plate holder there .. just put the plate on .. put something soft on the back side of the corners so it doesnt scratch and try to figure out how to attach it to where the euro plate would go
im not going to run a plate holder next season on my trunk so itll be easier to remove at shows :)

If you want to use the plate holder. I say cut it so it fits there, and then just bend the plate at the very bottom, and put something soft behind it.

Yeah that!!
Cut the plate holder to fit the flat part of that space.......then just bend the bottom 1/4 of the plate to flow with the rest.
I'd personally say F it and order a rear Euro plate with the actual license plate numbers. The car looks bad ass.....i'd risk the tickets to look that good!

I think it'll probably be less than that. Those holders are bulkier than the actual plate itself. Once you cut the plate holder, it wont be much of the actualy plate that you would have to bend.
As far as the Euro plate......it is technically illegal in the states, but your car looks clean! I'd go as far as just ordering one with the same numbers that are on your Florida plates (although again, it's illegal......but I'd probably do it anyways....its only a fix it ticket if you get caught). 20 bucks is nothing..
did the rear license plate lights and other associated hardware fit fine from the US version to your now EURO spec trunk?

someone finally understands me! I run front + rear euro plates all day long...standard plates just do not do it for me.

DTM do not have fog light cutouts... i have to do a fog light mod...... http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/334286-DIY-Fog-Lights-with-DTM-Bumper... and no nothing really fit well with the lid.... the lights had to be trimmed, all the edges had to be trimmed, the striker plate was not bonded to the lid so i had to get in there with sand paper and epoxies it.. the plate lights DID NOT FIT AT ALL!!! that was hours of trimming, had to use a series of washers to make it line up correctly...

I would just fold your old license plate, trim the foam pad to fit and be done with it.....if you fold it right, it will look good and the cops can't say much outside of giving you a hard time

that's what I would do too.
I think you would get pulled over for a euro plate even if it has your numbers and a tag.
Car is looking awesome though. Better do a photoshoot when you are all done

I would love to get a CF hood/trunk, I too have a DTM package in red [:)]
Please post pics after!
Also, since you had the do all the trimming, would you say the quality was bad or is it something to be expected?

ok.... i took everyone's advice and modified my plate... i trimmed the plate so it would be short enough to fit within the lines of the EURO plate box...... that was easy!! not only did i trim the plate but i had to trim the black backing plate.. that was easy used a cut off wheel.... then the smoked plastic plate cover... easy sharp blade... i could not stop there so i trimmed the plate frame... THAT WAS A BITCH!!!!! CUT IN TO 4!! TRIMMED!!!! then epoxied.... photos to follow.... for some reason i can only post photos from my phone camera not my Sony camera!! but i have a great photo that i was sent today.... SEE IF YOU CAN SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PHOTO.... seams like there is always something with the trunk.... http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc390/Richiearich/2011-12-02130604.jpg
the weave / trunk lip looks wavy :/

the weave / trunk lip looks wavy :/no that part i will have to say is perfect!!! the laying of the carbon and the clear coat finish is perfect..... one of the best that i have seen... THE BODY SHOP SAID IT IS ONE OF THE BEST FINISHES ON CARBON THEY HAVE SEEN! (sorry for the caps not retyping)... and they said most other lids need more trimming to fit..... so all and all it is ok... but if you look to the right of the light there is a HOLE! there is one on the left too.. WTF????
ohh hmmmmmm .. maybe u just need a lazer jammer setup to fill that in now !

ohh hmmmmmm .. maybe u just need a lazer jammer setup to fill that in now !that is the best one so far... besides a stash box!!!
out of curiosity, i know shop prices differ everywhere, but how much did the shop charge you for modifying the trunk for everything to fit + installation? i remember you saying earlier you painted it to, but im not concerned about that part of it, i would just keep it the way it looks
