I just got my 05.5 B7 a little over a month ago. Should I bother tearing out the card in the manual for notifying Audi of an ownership change or just call up the dealer with my VIN number? Is it worth doing this? Anyone have any experiences doing it? How long did it take before you received a response?

I sent mine in just to be safe, got a letter about 2 months later for the oil capacity update, i'm expecting the others soon.

Just call AOA. Heck here is the number (800-822-2834) Its much quicker and eaiser than filling in something and mailing it in etc etc. I even have it saved on my contacts list on my phone. :-)

I got a letter from audi today, i did not tell them I bought the car 3 months ago but I guess they have all the VINs in their database...dont think you need to notify them but i doubt it would hurt, might as well.

I sent mine new owner card back in april. A few months later I got the oil capacity card for my owners manual as well as a notice for the coil recall. When I check my vin in elsaweb (work for a dealer) it also lists me as the correct current owner. I would send the card in that way audi has you on file in case you have any issues or any recalls or warranty extensions show up.

Didn't do anything on my last car and AoA still figured out I owned it. I imagine they'll do the same on this one

If you know how to check a dipstick you don't have to worry about it, just says the engine has a higher oil capacity than in the original owner's manual.

I bought a VW Golf back in 2007, i never filled out anything, all I did was insure and register it, a month later I had a letter in the mailbox for some recall items and an extended warranty on the cat. Creepy bastards.

Just take it to the dealer to have your PCV valve replaced and they'll take care of the database/ownership issue for you.

Or if you buy it at an Audi Dealer they do it too.

Exactly. I think they get it through the DMV when you register it.

I can just take it to the dealer to get the PCV changed out? No diagnostic or symptoms or anything?

lol wishful thinking. doubt this is the case. im not exactly sure about recalls/campaigns audi has with these cars (besides the cam follower) but audi just replacing parts for no reason sounds a little odd.
OP i wouldnt bother sending in the card.
