I am a complete noob when it comes to exhaust systems and mufflers. I have heard that getting an exhaust system voids the warranty and I've also heard that it doesn't. So, I'm just going to ask about universal mufflers. Is it worth getting? It seems like an inexpensive way to get some aftermarket sound and possibly an easy transition back to OEM. If not, any other relatively inexpensive ways to get some aftermarket sound? So, experiences, comments, feedback is appreciated. Thanks. EDIT: Mufflers (http://www.carid.com/2008-audi-a4-exhaust-systems/) I was looking at.

if a dealership tells you exhaust will void your warrenty, you need to bring your car to another dealer. theres no reason it should void anything. Just a muffler will provide some sound but in the long run is a complete waste of money.

As you probably know if you want new mufflers you gotta weld it in. Also, the new muffler has to have the outlet on the side so the OEM piping can be easily modified to fit.
