Have to ask, why is the saloon so popular in the US? Here in Europe it's like 80% of the Audis Avant. But you guys have good taste in mods on the cars!

Sorry for of topic and bad English.

The avants are more popular it's just we didn't get as many of them.

Your English is better than 1/2 of the Americans on the internet. Don't apologize!

The large number of sedans (saloons) here on the forums represents what is available here in the United States. We get mostly sedans, and a few wagons. Sometimes we don't get a choice. With the C5 S6, we only got it in avant form. We also get a much more limited choice of engines. For the C5s, we only got the 2.7 biturbo V6, 2.8 V6, 3.0 V6, 4.2 V8 and 4.2 biturbo V8. We got no TDIs and none of the smaller engines that were available in Europe.

Ok I'm going too be quiet now whit my off topic talk.

I absolutely agree! But his aspect ratio is 40, so 255/40/19. The sidewall height difference between 255/40 & 255/45 is almost 13mm.

Ok so did a lil searching a
255 45 19 will be 4.9% larger then stock.
255 40 19 is only 1% larger then stock
245 45 19 is 3.3% larger then stock
275 40 19 is 3.4% larger then stock and 1.2" wider.
So if im not mistaken any of these can be acceptable? Those 255 40 19 look really nice but i wud like a bit more sidewall, some shitty roads here and odly high driveway enterences.

You got it! [up]

I run staggered and have both 245/45/19 and 275/40/19 for the exact reasons you stated, wanted a bit beefier look and some protection for my 19" wheels and they definitely do the job.

And yer running staggered wheels? 8.5 fronts and 9.5 rears? I like what youve done the diameter of both is 27.7" and the wider wheels out back. I think ive come to decide what im gonna go with. Thanx 4 rings. Ive got 19x8.5s gonna go with setup u suggested.

Yup yup! I love the look. As long as f&r rolling diameters are within 3% of each other you're good, but my set-up is like .08% difference, low tire pressure or tire wear would make more of a difference than that.

Yes im calculatin 1% difference in size, from stock. Im concerned i may look a bit mushroomed in the rear 275 but the size calculator i use says they will fit on my 8.5" rims. Im gonna space my 30ET out 10 f and 15 r but will likely go to 15f/20r. Cannot wait to get these NUE's tuesday nite!

2013 s4 wheels. 18x8 et 47. Had to use a 10mm spacers to clear the hp2's and they barely clear. This picture is with no spacers in the rear, but I think I'll add some 15mm spacers later today when I'm adjusting the suspension.

Sorry for the shitty iPhone pic but it's all I've got.

Some1 enlighten me on this i thought id need at least 10mm to clear the front caliper? So im excited to no end. And it wont be an issue mounting them... Some1 with more wheel experience give me a yes or no?

Spacers may have been suggested to put your wheels more flush since you have an AR. Lower ET's look better since you have all that room with the fenders.

So i shud fit with a 275 rear tire even with no spacers? I hope so. They loked to be about 18mm tucked in the front (test fit) rear i havent checked. It was raining so didnt want to be out there too long. So i hope for a few days i can get around w/out spacers. And then 10mm front 15mm rears spacers. Rims an tires dropped off today. Can install hopefully sat!

Pics tomorrow from the back, and the new lower stance. Also hope to grab my 15mm spacers for the front for final ET of 20. finally found my charger for the sony camera tonite. Was messing with the vag-com tonite. Im about 21 fr, 16 rear right now, but i was at 10mm higher on the passengers side and tried 4 times to level it with no avail. I finally got the front pass to be 5mm high the drivers and right rear is still 9mm higher then drivers. It looks fine and quite aggressive loving them wheels and stance.

All these are level 1, the side you see is actually 8mm lower the passengers side......i cannot get the passengers side to lower for some reason big time piss off. need to check sensors for sure perhaps a block valve? all levels adjust UP and down trough 1-4 but i want the right rear to sit same as left rear but it just wont wanna drop. anyway pics as requested the 275 tires from the back, they are all pics of level 1 so see the LOW.

as for the concave i think Rotiform makes another series that are much more concave. not what i got but i wanted 5 spokes 19" and thats what i got!! they could have some more concave to them yes but im very happy as they are!

Depends on the offset of the wheel, and what type of car you have.
I forgot to mention that it is a Allroad, the rim has ET 40, but i have several different spacers

Hey BlueVr

What kind of clearances do you have? I'm running 8.5x20 et15 wheels right now and by my calculations should be able to squeeze 10's on all four corners of the allroad but certain wheel suppliers tell me 9" is MAX. Your ride looks killer too by the way .

Thanks to all for input.
here is my setup.

19x9.5 et35 with 15mm spacers front and 18mm spacers in rear.

9.5 in the front in max without poke (on a 19" rim). 10 in the rear is no problem though. I have 9.5's on my car on all corners and only have .060 clearance from the inside of my rim to the front upright. The outer lip of the rim is flush with the outer edge of the flare. 20's will buy you a little more clearance but i don't think it will be good for another 1/2".

Yes. Pretty sure FrankA6 has them. They are made by Stern, and I am pretty sure someone mentions them in THIS VERY THREAD!!!! At least make SOME effort. Read this thread.

Thanks guys. It was definitely sweet looking but I had to take them off. It wasn't suitable for the 40 to 50 miles the car is driven daily. It looks like this on a day to day:
http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/298586_632908534805_1058043639_n.jpg

Sorry for the crappy instagram pictures. Stock setup is a set of OE Fat5s with factory tires - 20mms in front and 15mms in back. Probably going to throw a 20mm in back too next time I have the wheels off for something because it looks stupid with the rear in more. I rarely drive the car (my girl does) so I haven't gotten the kick to fix the fitment a little.

Any idea what the FTG is in this pic? I know you sold this a while ago but if you remembered by any chance it would be great.

Good day,

I am in need of technical help with my 1997 Audi A6 2.8 (C4 platform).

I am getting a whining sound from the engine too often now and gets much louder when I turn the steering. The more I turn the wheel, the louder the noise. I even feel an uncomfortable resistance sometimes when turning the steering wheel. I suspect its the power steering pump.

My car still drives like a dream and is very special to me.

Please help me or refer me to a member in the forum community who can give me solid advice on what it is and what I can do.

Thank you!!!

When Rotiform built the wheels for me they milled the centers of the rear back pad down and used larger lips in the rear. Hence same offset but larger rear lips.

stock wheel on US spec RS6 is 18x8.5 ET30

Those wheels will have 9mm less inner clearance and stick out 17mm more on the outside. Not sure if there would be fitment issues. I doubt it, but maybe some rubbing on suspension compression with wheels turned a lot.

Edit: Check this thread out:

I measured the gap between tire and fender and it is about 20mm or 2cm so it would be close. The 17 mm on the outside should be close to flush with the fender. I am hoping..

Very nice! How much inner clearence do u have

When I mounted the fronts, I reached my hand around to the inside of the rim close to the control arm. There is about 2 or 3mm, from what I could tell. Not much, but I havent detected any rubbing. I had previously grinded off the casting 'nub' near the top of the control arm. Not sure if that would have rubbed anything, or not. Also, if you have any play in your suspension, or if your alignment is slightly different than mine, then the clearance may vary.

10.5 et30 on an 18 inch wheel brings the wheel pretty close to a flush setup when dropped. This is a pic from yesterday, before I dropped the car another half inch (the more the drop, the more inward the top of the wheel will go)

http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10190795/p4pb10190795.jpg

Ill drop it a bit more still. So I expect it to be fully flush by the time I am done.

If it is an 40 series, it is no problem. Just make sure you find a good shop who knows what they are doing. 35 is probably a bit tougher. 30 series would be extreme, and probably dangerous at 245 on a 10.5.

The edge of the rim is VERY exposed. You will curb them.

I have a theory for stretched tires to look good... 1) has to be on a wheel with a lip (wheels with spokes to the edge dont look right with stretched tires) 2) you have to have the rims close to flush with the fender.. and 3) you have to go pretty low. If you get all that stuff bang on, then you dont really notice that the tires are stretched from most angles. Just my opinion, anyway.

I am using wobble bolts since the wheels only come 5x114.3 in this size. You have to enlarge the holes to use wobbles, but the bolt pattern of the wheel remains 5x114.3.

A few pics of drilling out your wheels for wobble bolts (not for the faint of heart on new wheels, and proceed at your own risk!)

1. Soak down all the holes and the bits with LOTS of WD
http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10189695/p4pb10189695.jpg

2. Start with a 5/8th step bit. Make sure you dont go past the 5/8th, or youll make the hole too big
http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10189689/p4pb10189689.jpg
http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10189690/p4pb10189690.jpg
http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10189693/p4pb10189693.jpg

3. Continue with a 5/8th drill bit. Make sure the bit is approved for use in metal (i.e. dont use a masonary bit). DO NOT PUSH IT DOWN AT ALL !!! Or it will quickly seize up. Soak it all good with WD and almost just hold it so it floats in the hole.
http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10189688/p4pb10189688.jpg

4. All done ! Wash it up and mount.

On some metals cutting oil may be a better option. We use this stuff all the time at work, aluminum and copper steal aswell. And the thicker the material use the drill on slower setting. Just let it float with minimal pressure. Ull reduce heat when drilling which will reduce your holes from actually ovalling.

Love those wheels V8A6! They look nice! Would be nice setup on the ar i think!

Ya it has lubricating to it but it is essentially a cleaner not a lube. The other alternative would have been a product called 10w-30 made by most lubricant companies!

Dear Frank
Was looking for some advice on wheel fitment:
l have been looking into a set of Miro 111's at 19x 8.5 in front and 19x 9.5 in the rear with a tire size of 245/35 in front and 275/35 in the rear.
Any advice on spacing or fender modifications would be appreciated the tires are BF Goodrich KDW2's if that helps.
I want to try to get them as flush with the fenders as possible.
As per these photos here:
http://www.2040cars.com/Audi/A6/2000...s6-kit-284800/
Special thanks to chrisaudi4.2 for the photo reference

Couple of differences to NOTE:
the wheels are et 32 in front (again 8.5 in) and et 40 in the rear (again 9.5 in)
ET is different because the the bolt pattern is 5x112
Chris' final ET in front is 17 and the rear is 15
Not sure of rear final ET because my tire is 275 in the rear...
...I guess I kinda answered my own question there with the step s to fitment as per test fitting and mock-ups when it comes to wheels...

Anyhow please chime in any and all advice is greatly appreciated
Also does anyone have experience or input on 275 tires in the rear of 4.2 sedans
Thanks and Happy Holidays to all

this page is gold. Very sick rides.

Question, for the enkei nt03, wonder if they are 5x112 or redrilled?

An alternative to drilling would be purchasing a set of ADAPTEC adapters and/or spacers for your application high quality stuff, affordable too.
Will send them my Mandrus Millennium 17x8 wheels which are my current setup....for a refurbish on the lip and repaint. Will consider selling them once the set of Miro 111's arrive. Been wanting to change the stock wheel size from 17 to 18x8 anyways. Alzor fan blades...winter setup if it snows.
Miro 111 19 staggered summer setup.
Check them out.http://www.motorsport-tech.com

A few things -
1- Do not run 245/35 front & 275/35 rear. It will mess with Quattro from such a substantial diameter difference.
2- That very car you referenced is in this thread, as well as others, so you can see what he runs since that is exactly what you want.

my experience with the 275 rears on my allroad was good. lots of clearance on the ar. for 3 tire widths or more you have to adjust the height by 5 lower. so for a 245/35/19 front you must go with a 275/30/19 rear. on my car I went with 245/40/19 front and 275/35/19rears. they look awesome from the ass of the car and were very usefull for trying to pack down some gravel in the driveway. just be aware that with wider tires the height ratio will change. willtheyfit.com or a few other tire size calculators will help you to see exactly what size tires will match for your application.

Got some new spacers for the allroad today. Should be here in about a week. Time to dial in the suspension again. But final offset will be et-8 in the rear and et-3 in the front [evilsmile][evilsmile][evilsmile]

Hey guys, I recently bought a 99 2.8L A6, coming from a Mitsubishi (not that it matters) I picked up some '06 A6 18x8.5 ET45 wheels, test fitted them on the car, and they clear the upright on the car by less than the width of my finger, yet look like they're dead flush with the fender. So I've got a few questions
1. Is there a difference in uprights or where the wheel hub is placed relative to the body of the car in a pre-facelift 2.8 A6 vs a facelift 2.7t? I'm looking at all your nice cars running 18x8.5 ET35/45 and havent seen any info on tire clearance. I'm guessing that with a 235/40/18 the tire will rub on my car
2. Given that info, would everyone suggest a 10mm spacer? 5mm? I'm sitting at stock ride height for now, and would prefer to not have to do any fender work if I lower it in the future. Thanks for the help!

Can you take a pic of your "dead flush" with the fender setup?

Cause x8.5 et45 seems like a very conservative setup. And mind you that, once you are lowered with the exact same setup, it wont' be dead flush anymore and rather sunking in. (depends on how much lower)

jstarr427
01-14-2014, 07:50 PM
The 'dead flush' comment was more based on what I observed test fitting the wheel on the car with the driver's front corner jacked up. I just picked these wheels up yesterday and don't have tires as of yet. My main concern is having a 234/40/18 rub on the upright, which based on how close the wheel is, I'm betting it will (without a spacer). I will probably need a 7-10 MM spacer to get an ET closer to 35/38. I guess I assumed that when the suspension is compressed the whole assembly will move out, not in, which is why I also asked if the 2.7t uprights are different than the 2.8's. I guess I'll have to wait and see what'll happen when I choose a tire to go with.

Just picked up a set of vmr 710 18x9.5 et 45 for a price I couldn't refuse.. However these wheels need rubber... I have an 03 c5 a6 2.7 w/ koni fsd shocks/eibach springs. With the wheel set came 12mm spacers(if they dont work I'll get new ones). What tire should I run 225 or 235? I notice quite a few of you guys are stretching the 225 on the 9.5 wheel? Curious to see everyones opinion based on experience with these 18x9.5

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Your answer is in this very thread. Some like stretch and they do 225 on 9.5. Personally I run 255 on my 9.5. All depends what you want. Plenty od posts about 9.5 width on here. See what you like.

Way too small. Stock 17" size is 235/45/17. Which is 30mm wider and 23.75mm shorter per sidewal. Which means total diameter is almost 2" too small.

For a 2002 S6: Will an 18"x8" wheel with 245/45 tires fit under the front/rear fenders without rubbing? I know that the stock size is 255/40 R17 and the diameter is 25.03". The diameter of the 18" wheel with the 245/45s is 26.68". The offset on the wheels is 45mm.

Besides speedometer error and additional ride height, will this tire/wheel combo fit without rubbing the inner fender liners?

Stock wheels no spacers will be adding 15mm soon. Yokohama Geolander ATS 225/60/17 (27.6in tall) max is probably 28in

FYI this is about the biggest you can fit without rubbing lock to lock I also took Into account airing down for beach use.. So even if a bigger tire was possible it would probably rub the upright.

Also there is slim choices for an allterrain tire close to stock sizes. Fortunately the Geolander is an amazing tire!

A 16in rim with the right lower offset (ET32 or lower) would yield better tire results like a 215/65/17 general grabber AT2 and Bridgestone revos ect.

Hey! Consider 20mm spacers on the twin spoke wheels, rather than 15mm. I found that 20mm gets the wheel arches nearly perfectly flush with the face of the wheel, but keeping all tire tread inside the wheel well.

LOVE the meaty tires btw!

Gonna need really big spacers, but should look good. I have 255/40/19 on mine. My net et is 16. I could probably still push them out further, another 5mm or so, maybe more. Any less and the large "curb protector" bead on my tires hit the rear bag. Tire was fine, but these Continentals have huge lips where the wheel sits..

I think most A8 offsets are in the 40's. Like 43-45..

They are ET 46 so I was thinking of either a set of 25mm or 30mm spacers, the 30mm spacers would bring me to ET 16 like you. Here are the wheels in question.

just a quick question for the masters on here. I've gotten everything figured out on my b6 s4, but this allroad is an entirely different beast. got a free set of 18x7.5 wheels from my buddy to use on my 2001 allroad. what size tire should i be looking at? they have 225/40's on them now, at only 7.5 wide, i don't want to get too wide of a tire and have that balloon look. will the 225/40's be ok (strictly summer setup) or should i be looking for a different size? any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated. pics will be coming soon. THANX FELLAS!

x7.5, size 225 is the perfect set up. 235 will be too wide and ballon already.

The wheels are VOXX MB5 Mercedes replica wheels 18x9.5 with an offset of 30

Only had to slightly roll the front fender lining and remove one of the upper screws for the inner front fender

H&R Race springs. I can't believe how little body roll it has for being a big car. really tight.
and with the right wheels and offset. it sits soooo pretty.

I love seeing everyones setups by the way. being new to audizine I can't wait to see it all.

Nice. How's the ride in comparison to stock height? I sometimes hear it's a bit hard. Also im thinking about doing a 1.5" drop. Nothing too crazy as I live in pothole infested NYC.

Anyone have info on what size spacers would be good for a 4.2 a6 with 17x7.5 OEM s-line bbs wheels with 235/50/17 tires? Ive searched this thread and google and audizine and can only find narrowbody cars with them.

20" x 9.5J BSA Motorsport rims ET 45
stretched 245/35/20 Sumitomo HTRZ2 tires
ABT lowered springs, front aftermarket schocks, rear original set (approx 40-50mm lower)
3mm spacers in front, as 2.7T has large brake supports in front, no spacers in rear needed.

p.s. sold those rims as had problem with front.. dont recomend to do this :D now bought set of 18" BBS RS2 (710) :)

What color are those rims. Have the same car and yours has the look. It's bad . That's the look I'm going for. How much did you lower it.

The rims are glossy black, the metal part in the front is brushed and clear coated, we did it low about 50 mm in the front and 35-40 in the back. then i plasti dipped the front chrome parts with matte black with glossy finish (under headlights) and gun metal grey for the grille.

looks nice

Do you drive it in level one? That sounds aggressive for 402. Or maybe you're on coils?

His tires are also approx 1" smaller overall diameter than standard Allroad tires. I lowered mine about 30-35mm and my tires are 255/40/19, which has 12mm more radius than his 255/35 and I don't rub. 19x10 et16.
