View Full Version : Power Side Mirror Fuse?

So, a couple of weeks ago my power side mirrors stopped working, and my driver window stopped working completely. I noticed the window issue first and thought it might be the window regulator, but I dont have any "crunching" sound that most people on here have when the regulator is bad. Next I thought it might be the window motor. However, I noticed that my power side mirror buttons weren't doing anything either, so I thought that the two things might be related. Before I pull my door apart and look inside, I want to test some fuses to see if they might be the issue. After doing a few searches, I havent been able to find which fuse controls the power side mirrors or the power windows.
I first assumed these might be the central convenience electronic fuses, but they tested fine.
Does anyone know, or have a detailed fuse map diagram, or know which fuses I should test...or have any other advice?!
Thanks in advance
ps: just realized that the red light (the door locked indicator - on the door lock button) doesnt work on that door either.

Update:
All of my fuses tested fine. I have my door apart so I can see the wiring. I guess I thought something would be obvious and jump right out at my as the problem, but naturally I have no clue what I am looking for.
my problems:
driver window doesnt work - no crunching sounds and the window doesnt budge at all (so i dont think its window regulator - i can control all other windows fine from the buttons on the driver door)
power side mirror knob is not doing anything
the light that indicates if the door is locked or not isnt lighting up
the lights the illuminate the window buttons and the child window lock button are not lighting up
all of this is on the driver door - around the same area. all of the wires inside of the door seem to be attached properly.
i wanted to get this post up before it starts getting too dark outside to work...i am going to keep poking around, but if anyone has any advice, please help!

UPDATE
finally got this damn thing fixed today.
after searching around inside the door mindless, i opened up the gromet between the door and inside of the car. after giving each wire a slight tug, i found a red one that moved much easier than the others. i was able to pull it out of the gromet rather easily and found that it was cut in half. how this happened, i have no idea. but this was the cause of my problem. i found the other end of the red wire which was at the door end of the gromet, and mended it together with some copper wire that i had laying around and voila, i can go to the chickfila drive thru again.
anyone else randomly have a wire snap in their car?

It was pretty common to have wires get messed up in the older Passats. Might be due to the quality of the wire in use.

interesting. i found that the large brown one had a split in its insulation also, but it was not severed. did my best to wrap it with some electric tape to at least cover it up.

This was the exact problem I encountered today. Same red wire with a black stripe. Soldered in a new wire and left extra slack. FIXED

I know it's an old thread, but for the purpose of helping others, can you please elaborate on which fuses you tested and where they are located?

i THINK i tested the central convenience labeled fuses. anything that seemed like it could be related.
