Hey guys

I am new to the forums, spent a lot of time on VWVortex when I had my Jetta

I now have a 2008 Audi A4 2.0T and I just hit 50,000 and I just noticed today that I lost power/boost, I don't have any CEL or anything on. The only thing that happened to the car was when I got it like two weeks after some lady backed into me and pushed in my passenger side headlight and caused some minor damage. Now I don't remember losing performance after that. I only bring that up is because when I noticed it today I checked under the hood today and I seen a tube that runs behind that headlight so I thought if there's an important tube behind the light that might effect the boost if it was disconnected. My maintenance isn't for another 200 miles and the car is under warranty but if it was something simple I would like to do it myself instead of waiting

Well right behind your passenger side headlight is your intake, check to make sure thats all hooked up correctly. If you can't figure that out, I feel bad for you and should stick to cars with warranties. Otherwise I'd say your diverter valve could use an upgrade. Chances are you have a stock DV and could use an upgrade to the revision D valve. I'd more look at the intake box and the turbo inlet pipe (intake pipe). Make sure thats all connected and looking good. Your under warranty so I wouldnt really worry about it and just bring it to the dealership.

The tube you are referring to is likely your turbo inlet hose, diconnection of that will not necessarily decrease boost, but will allow unfiltered air to enter your turbo **> engine etc, which is not good. I would also think that your MAF reading would get skewed 2/2 the bypassing of it.

Before jumping the gun and pronouncing that you have lost power, get some objective data. I swore i had a boost leak and my DV was bad until i got aboost guage and realized it was all in my head as I was peaking and holding at 18-19 (APR Stage I 91). boost gauges are always handy. Find someone with a vagcom and check for any thrown codes, requested vs actual boost etc.

If nothing else, go to your dealership early (200 miles early on a 10000 mile interval is fine) and have them run for codes. Maybe you are in limp and don't know it?

makav3li: yea i checked all the tubing and it looks connected except for the one that's behind the light I cant really see that well

rongeur: Thanks! yea I have a friend that has a vag I will see if we can do some testing. So lets say I did lose boost from a loose tube or bad DV wouldn't that cause a CEL ?

You would think, but not always.

A broken dv will not throw a cel. I would guess dv or coil pack.

Check your intercooler lines. I hit mine and didn't have a CEL just a huge loss of power and boost. They are located behind your fogs.
