this is not my first audi i do know quite a bit about them... My first audi was a 99.5 A4 quattro 5 speed. I am buying a 2006 A4 quattro 6 speed manual tom morning trading my truck in on it.

My last audi I had a GIAC chip in it. But from what ive read they are not the greatest for the 2.0t ? I am pretty sure I am going with an APR tune (found a dealer 1.5 hours away that can do it) Also I am seeing VAG 6 speeds and regular 6 speeds ? whats the difference?

My last audi I had a reiger RS4 front bumper S4 sides and rear along w/ racetech engineering FMIC full 3" turbo back no cat bilstein struts with eibach springs and s4 swaybars and 18s. factory rims had blizzaks for winter.

My plans for this one are the same... the car is basically the exact same black leather interior silver trim (no wood) silver exterior color.

I am always into tuning up my cars and sticking more money then I should into them... ( my truck is 542hp 1086ft lbs) which is getting traded in for the audi. I drive 110 miles a day to and from work and needed something more efficent for winter driving. ( I have a civic I drive when its nice)

So what I am looking for so far is who makes good coilovers? Ones that will last through horribly salty winters we have here in wisconsin.

And does everybody agree the APR tune is the best?

Also thinking of doing the PCV and bypass upgrades as soon as I get the car as well.

Any free mods or anything I miss please lmk I have been reading for the last couple weeks about these newer A4's think I will be very happy.

Also do these 2.0s still have the engine gunk problem w/ remote starts ?

Also whats the best fuel mileage everybody is seeing? I am hoping to get 30-35 mpg the more the better.

Everything you did with your old car you can do pretty much the exact same thing with this one. I wouldnt say APR is the BEST, but it is tied up there with the revo and giac. They are all pretty much the same. I've never heard of an engine gunk problem with remote starts, there is a carbon build up problem but if your chipped and open it up occassionally you shouldnt be a problem. I get a steady 21mpg's but thats mostly city driving and bout 1/3 to 1/4 highway.

With that much power, I bet you've got some $$$ tied up in your truck. I bet it's a Cummins too... [:)]. It's a tough economy but I bet you could swap some of your upgraded parts for stock ones and get some of that money back. The dealer sure isn't going to give it to you. Anyway....

I went with APR when it was on sale. I got the "fully loaded" option for $600+tax. 4 tunes, plus a MAF/throttle body reset, and the ability to clear codes (not read though, just clear them). I'm happy with it b/c I plan to keep the gas drivetrain pretty simple, just a little beefed up and fixed what's broke or out of spec.

Sounds like you know what your doing. How many miles on the audi? The cam follower is something to keep in mind when they start to get up there.. Pics of the truck, civic, new audi, old audi etc [up]

Never heard of a VAG 6-speed, there's only one 6-speed that when into the B7's.

APR tune is great. Make sure to get the upgraded piston diverter valve (from the B8 A4) when chipping as well.

Bilstein, Koni, H&R, KW, all make great coilovers, dig a little deeper in the search and find what's right for you. Grab an RS4 rear sway bar too to complete the suspension upgrades.

Debadging and simple VAGCOM changes are the best free(ish) mods.

I've heard a lot of people on the boards say to go with the reflash that is closest to you. I ended up going with APR just so I could switch programs right on the cruise stock without having to buy extra controllers.

For mileage, right after I first got the reflash done, I was getting horrible mileage just cause I couldn't keep my foot out of it. Now though, that I've had the reflash for close to 3 years, driving on the highway, I can get about 33mpg cruising at 80. When my dad has driven my car, he's said cruising at 65, he was able to get about 38mpg. This is all calculated when the car is filled up, not on the trip computer.

Pic of the car. Pretty happy with it so far really different from the B5 I had a while ago :) seems like it has more power then my 1.8T did w/ the chip to. Cant wait to get the APR tune done.

Different tunes have different benefits. I have APR because it was on sale, i found a reliable shop with good cred to do it, free upgrade to stage 2 and 3 and program switching with the cruise control stalk. I am very happy with it. I have heard good things about the Revo and Unitronics flash as well.

I can't wait to vagcom my seatbelt alarm off - dives me insane when working on my car...

Warning, my stock a4 felt so fast compared to my 4 runner (obviously) then that novelty wore off. Then i flashed it and thought now this is really fast, now it feel normal and am itching like tyrone for stage 2

GL, post with your guilt progress

6.0 or 6.4? I'd bet with the power you had, 6.4 with intake, exhaust, DPF delete, and probably Spartan tunes.

Nice looking A4. I like my APR tunes and the ability to switch them via the cruise control buttons.

I wouldnt normally suggest this but you should paint your wheels gloss black to break up all the silver. And it would be a free(ish) mod.
