i just wanted to see if anyone had a similar problem that i could compare with mine.

my car has developed a "creak" in the left drivers wheel area.

when i turn the wheel and move the suspension(sawing back and forth, or going over a speed bump) the car makes a noise much like a old wooden step in a house. just normal suspension travel without the steering wheel moving wont do it.

i hope its not ball joints

could be the control arms possibly. I developed the same problems recently and getting it checked out. Hopefully its my controls arms for me since i have them already waiting to be installed

def not control arms, those clunk moving up and down, this creaks moving side to side, and a little up and down

its either my top ball joint or my rack and pinion

Agreed.

Control arms go clunk, not creeek....

I'd say something with your PS.

i was chatting with an audi tech today, he says they test them by pushin up, feeling for the clunk. but im sure they could creak/squeak as well

I'll put 10 bucks on a bad tie-rod. Audi did a poor job a sealing them. Look at the upper tie-rods and look at the rubber seal. Check to see if there is anything getting to it. If you have the ability to put the car in the air do it and unlock the steering and move the wheel back and forht and you will feel play. I had the same problem with my car. It hasn't been doing it much lately. The tie-rods are expensive too.

Goodluck

I was talking to my tech the other day about this. Control arms will creek to begin with, then clunk. When wearing out they creek and they have to be replaced when clunking.

Well i guess my driver side just went, hahaha. good thing it happened right before fixing my pass. side. Now it feels more worth it to chnage thme all at once, for labor that is.
