Im really lookin into getting a chip for my 2.0, but i was told that it will void the warrenty.
Anybody know if this is true?
It could, but some chips company make their chip very hard to trace.

it will void the warranty if the dealership wants it to void the warranty. however, the GIAC flash programmer (i don't know what's available for the 2.0) doesn't add a chip and won't show up on a vag, so they couldn't know it was chipped, just flash it to stock before you take it in for service.

Yes it will and don't think that if Audi suspects you are chipped they won't void it.
No matter what chip or flash is used, if they want to know they will find out. Audi knows all the tricks the tuners use to try to hide it from them. So far I believe only MTM, ABT and perhaps a few other European tuners have the chips for the 2.0T FSI. MTM claimed 255 Hp chip only and 265 HP with their cat back exhaust. The hard part will be how the tuners will get around that one piece exhaust manifold/new K03 set up that's presently in the car to upgrade to a bigger turbo. Since this a newly design/modified K03, I don't even know if a K04 upgrade will be available in the short term.
There are also rumours that the new ECU/electronics in this new car because of its design, won't be flashable. I know for a fact that MTM as to use a different system to chip this car. Apparently they have some kind of "rolling/encrypted code" that can not be changed and if the ECU is tempered with, it will shut down the car and only the dealer will be capable of reprogramming it. Like I said this info comes from a source that claims the info is directly from VW/Audi. Only time will tell what options become available.
I'm also told the VAG tool 1552 will not be able to work with this car and only the very expensive VAG tool 5056(?) at $16K will be able to access this car.
If anyone can shed some light on this, I would appreciate it. It seems Audi is bending backwards to stop the mods on this car. Hope none of what I said is true.

I got my 2.0T flashed with the Neuspeed chip about 2 weeks ago, it has been running flawless.
You are right they were not able to flash the ECU trough the OBD port like before or solder the chip, the used a special programmer thar reprogrammed the chip right on the board
I did take it over to a friend at the dealer to have him check for any abnormalities and he found nothing

I would not ask the dealer, when it comes down to it the Manufacture make the decision any say no chipping.
I have chipped every car I have owned since 1994 and I never had any problems with the dealer, I also have never mentioned that I have a chip they have asked and I always say I don’t know what that is

Jet Jockey - I was thinking the same thing especially when learning about that one piece turbocharger/manifold design back in January. Audi is going to some pretty extreme methods in preventing aftermarket upgrades, and also you just can simply replace the ECU with another as it won't work at all... period.
Had an interesting conversation with a friend this morning out in west. He's thinking about chipping his Smart and the discussion turned to warranty and ECU upgrades. Looks like here in Canada, Mercedes Benz, according to the dealership, has never denied warranty work on a car with an aftermarket ECU as they have never been able to prove that it was the ECU that caused the damage. So in the end, they don't care if he chips his Smart car.
From one to extreme to the other I suppose.
