Does anyone know what size the center speaker is in the B7 A4? In the next couple of weeks I plan to pick up an MS8 and am considering utilizing the Logic 7 that it is capable of. In order to do this, I need to know what the center speaker is, but I can't find any useful information on it anywhere.
Anyone know the size? specs? etc.
Thanks.

If it's the same as my B6, it's a 2" with a square frame and 23mm total depth.
Maybe try an Aura Whisper, they are supposed to sound good. Should drop right in, don't know about the extra 10mm of depth though.

Great, thanks. Was it easy enough to get into there, I am assuming the grill pops off somehow. I just got done uninstalling my H650, and forgot just how much difference it makes. Admittedly I now don't even have the sub hooked up, but it sounds really poor at the moment. Hopefully I can pick up an MS8 fairly soon, and will then start figuring out what to put and where.
I had hoped I could fit the MS8 in the glovebox, but with having to access both sides of it for connections, I don't think it will fit. Since I have an Avant I don't have all that many options for hiding things. From what I have read the MS8 does not like getting too hot, so I don't want to put it in the same side cubby as my amp. The cubby on the other side houses the sub, and I think it is too tall to fit underneath the floor. Even though I want to keep everything stealth, I am debating building a new sub box that stretches all the way across the trunk and fits against the back of the seats, with the MS8 going in where the sub currently sits.
Do you have any recommendations on some rear speakers? Looking to spend around $100-$150 on a pair.

IIRC... Remove the small rubber piece around the photosensor with a screwdriver. That will expose two screws or torx heads, remove those and remove the photosensor and the vent grill. Then remove the speaker and speaker bracket.
I had to cut out the back of the glove box to fit my BitOne, so there's no way you'll fit an MS8. It will have to go in the trunk. If you're using the internal Class D amps, I guess it's good to give it ventilation, but if you're only using the processing I can't imagine it will produce much heat and I wouldn't worry about it.
Rear speakers for what purpose? I don't run any. Save your cash. Putting cheap rear speakers that are mismatched with the fronts will just drag down your SQ.

Thanks, I will give it a try and see. Most likely I will pop the old speaker out first before trying to figure out a new one.

Not the end of the world having to put it in the trunk, but at the same time means I will have to do some moving of things around. I will probably be using the internal amp to run the center and rear speakers.

At the moment I don't run any either, and do not miss them at all. But, my boys have complained about not being able to hear music in the back, and on top of that I want to give the Logic 7 from the MS8 a try. That plan is not set in stone yet, I might just hook up the MS8 to what is in there now and call it a day, but I am curious to see how the Logic 7 sounds.

I think my center speaker is blown. All I want to do is remove/unhook it. Is that all there is to it? Just tear into it from the top?

Theres a little plastic panel by the temp sensor you pop out and there should be a small torx in there to get it out.

Popped the cover off today to take a look at this, its definitely a small speaker, and not a whole lot of room in there. I did not take the speaker out, as I could not figure out how to unclip the photosensor, and did not want to break it. Will take another look at some point.
Annoyingly, I dropped a torx bit down the defroster vent. Which is all the more annoying as mine was held on with a Philips screw and not a torx bit anyway. Also, somewhat pissed off as I discovered today I need 4 new tires. So stereo upgrade plans are on hold, doubly irritating as I recently sold my Alpine processor and so my sounds are currently crappy.

Upgrading the center speaker is a pain in the ass. After taking out the stock speaker, I figured there is actually close to 60mm depth in there. So, I went ahead and ordered an Aurasound NS3-193-4A. It's a 3" full range driver. That arrived this morning, so I attempted to fit it..... not happening, no way, no how. While there is enough depth, and I suspect enough length and width to (just about) fit it. The opening that the speaker sits behind is so small, that I would have to cut up more of my dash than I am prepared to do.
So, its going to go back and I will try the 2" version Dan posted above.
On a similar subject, for the past week while waiting for the Aura to arrive, I had been running the stock center. It actually does not sound all that bad, even running off my Alpine amp and with the volume cranked up. There are some frequencies that cause it to distort (Adele's vocals) it has performed better than I expected. If the 2" Aura does not work out well, I may end up simply leaving the stock center in. Hard to imagine going to a set up without a center speaker now.

Do yourself a favor, and disable the center speaker in the dash, is sounds horible, and the channel seperation is a lot better without that crappy center fill channel. Just snip the wire.

While normally I would agree with this, now that I have it running off an MS8 with Logic 7 switched on, it sounds good (even for the stock speaker). Hopefully once I find an upgrade to fit in the same spot it will sound even better. If you were closer I would let you take a listen, using the MS8 it does a great job of putting the sound stage right up on top of the dash.
