i remember seeing somewhere that there is an way to increase the range of our shitty remotes? something about a wire behide the back seat and u can extend it to the top of the seat..., anyone can help me out wit this one? [wrench]

Check out the tech section on AW. think only the 96 models have the wire under the seat and the rest are in the trunk area if memory serves. I extended mine along the rear bumper, much improved range.

I found the article I told you to check out... It's just about worthless. If I remember right the later models have the antenna leading of the vacuum pump in the trunk, and it should be easy to find this one because it just ends after a foot or two, I think it was a black wire? Just splice it and run a new wire along the rear bumper.

If you have a car with central locking, you most likely have an issue with the antenna that travels up the rear inner fender and into the rear bumper.

you need to buy a revised antenna, the part number is: 8D1 971 650A

It's about $30 from Impex.

why would you want to be more than 6 - 10 feet away from your car when you unlock it?

you can unlock my wife's envoy from about 300 feet away. i don't consider that a desirable feature.

I like having it a short distance away for my wife's benefit.

Our 2003 Envoy distance is far far away too. That's only good for messing with people at night and having the lights (headlights and tail lights) come on. [:p]

GMC's "garage door remote" has distance too, that part is nice tho.
