The time has come to part ways with my Symphony II, the XM trial finally ran out (after almost 3 years) and given that was the only reason for me keeping the Symphony, I am looking to replace it with an aftermarket unit. I was looking at the Avic X930BT over on Crutchfield and it says that I also need a PAC C2R-AUDI. But, it looks like I only need that if I am keeping my Bose system. Is that right? There is no Bose left in my vehicle, so do I still need that PAC adapter?

Also, is the X930BT much of an improvement over an X910BT? I see that the screen size is slightly larger (5.8 vs 6.1), but what else is there? Especially as I am also looking at used head units which it looks like X910's are around $200+ cheaper than the new X930.

I know I need the PAC steering wheel adapter, also believe I need an antenna adapter. I would prefer something like an Alpine W505, but I hate the fact that I have to add extra modules for bluetooth and navigation. Especially as used W505's are around the $500 area, and I would need to spend at least another couple hundred to get bluetooth and nav.

OK, so I have just been looking on enfig's site, and can someone help me figure out exactly which wiring harnesses I need (assuming I get a Pioneer), do I need the following:

CONNECTS2 CT27AA56
CONNECTS2 CTPIONEERLEAD
CONNECTS2 CTSAD003

In order to get decent FM radio and retain my steering wheel controls? Almost $200 on top of the radio initial cost starts to put me into RNS-E territory. Am I missing something here?

Thanks.

The antenna adapter is wrong. I just did the same install today. C930BT into a 06 A4 with Symphony 2.

I I did a step by step video tutorial... Should be up in a few weeks. This is the result.

Let me know if you cant get to it.

Thanks, will keep an eye out for the video as well since it will probably be 3-4 weeks until I am buying anything. How do you like the 930BT? I found a decent deal locally on an Alpine W505 with both the Sirius tuner, NVE-P1 and Bluetooth, but given the somewhat crappy reviews of the Alpine navigation am still leaning towards the Pioneer.

I am running a PXE-H650, I am assuming I don't need anything additional to connect to that? just run RCA's from whatever new head unit I choose to the input on the H650 and then re-run the Imprint setup.

Just watched the video, and all I can say is that I need to go find my Mos Def CD now :)

In all seriousness though, great video and incredibly helpful. Especially with regards to things like the VSS and reverse wire, I probably won't get a reverse camera right away, but do plan to at some point. Also, am I right in assuming that the GPS antenna and microphone are fairly easy to install? My only concern with installing the microphone is that I have read people put them in the stock location by the dome light, and I have no idea how to get all the trim off to get a wire up there.

Oh, it was also nice seeing someone else struggle to put a radio into a cage! Makes me wonder how tough its going to be when stuffing all the wires back in there as well.

Thanks, I will definitely be contacting you guys sometime around the middle of October to place an order for the parts for my install.
