View Full Version : Which of these OEM wheels are the strongest?

I've been toying with buying a set of OEM wheels to use during the warmer months. My swings are bent and balancing isn't helping.

So my question is:

Of the following three OEM wheels, which is the stongest and will hold up under daily driving?

#1 - 17" 00-02 S4 AVUS wheels

#2 - 17" B6 A4 Sport wheels

#3 - 17" 01.5 A4 "Celebration package" wheels

I think the celebration wheels look nice and clean but, I have read that they bend easily. The B6 sport wheels are nice but, they aren't my favorite. The S4 wheels are nice but, I'm trying to avoid looking like a wannabe S4.

Trying to spend $600 or less on used wheels.

#1 - 17" 00-02 S4 AVUS wheels are probably the strongest, but they are also the heaviest. IIRC, they weight 26-28lbs.
The RS4 type are the best looking of the 3, why don't you get some replicas in those, they are probably stronger that the OEM wheel.

The only reason I haven't bothered with the RS4 replicas is that they're 18" and between the wheel and tire prices, it's more than I can spend.

That's why I was shooting for a 17" wheel and a used OEM one at that. Besides, the shitty roads where I am will ruin a nice set of 18's in one year. The 17" wheels will maintain a better sidewall thickness for pothole impacts.[eek]
