I've got an 01.5 1.8Tqm and I get 18.2 miles per gallon driving around in Chicago. Now i do sometimes rev the rpms pretty high when I want to fly around a little, but this seems really low. I bought this used in Nov 2004 and there were no service records in the car. There were 48k miles on it then and 52k miles on it now, should I just go ahead and change the plugs and wires and clean out the air filter to see if i get an increase in mpg?

That does seem a tad low. I get at least 350 miles to the tank in my 98.5 with mixed driving. Ummm....change the fuel filter too.

18 sounds about right with quattro and "slightly" aggressive driving.

I get a little better in my 2.8, I get 28mpg on the highway, and about 24 in the city. That is with rare aggressive driving. Not that I did not do that in the test, just not alot. A fuel system cleaner and change of plugs (denso iradium) helped my gas millage a ton.

I get just a little under 300 and that's pushing it in my 99.5 A4 1.8T. It has, however, gotten worse since I k04'ed it back in March. [wrench]

one thing about my area that I forgot to mention is that it's all flat. No hills to speak of. Also, Very little traffic.

my avg MPG is 28.7 now, mostly highway cruising at 75mph. I'd say I average around 20-22 on the streets with "slightly aggressive" driving.

I get about 20 in city and 34 HWY at 70 and have gotten best of 37MPG at 65.
I religiously change my plugs every 5K (since I have mods) and clean air filter once a year.

I run this stuff in it every 6 months and it works great!

And I run Amsoil Synthetic Motor Oil which helps with better gas mileage as well.

i get about 18mpg in city driving around chi-town, northbrook area. but i'm also using 310cc Injectors with a with 310cc Injector file. so to me that seems a little low. I know with my EFK in was 23MPG...but i'm back to stock fan now. before I was getting 21...so I must have been beating on my car and I forgot about it. my normal prior to efk with injectors was 21mpg city driving. this last tank i got 18mpg.

I'm modded so I run the NGK BKR7E (NGK part# 6097) they are one step COLDER than stock.

If you are stock I'd run the NGK BKR6E (NGK Part# 6962).

I run my Gap at .028, seems to run better with a smaller gap like that.

I got my plugs at a Local NAPA for $2.14 each

OR... you could try: sparkplugs.com

I prefer to buy "locally" incase I get a bad plug. Just my 2 cents.

sparkplugs.com will get you just about anything you want. I personaly have the top end denso plugs. They are also the most expeinsive plug you can get from them. They are nice but I am not sure they were worth it. Looking back I would have got the top end NGK plugs.
