Has anyone had their front doors repaired under the perforation warranty due to rust? If so, any issues? I've been looking at buying an allroad but quite a few have had door rust. I'm wondering how common this is? An example:

I would check to see if it is a repaired panel, most of the time panels are not repaired properly after an accident and can rust over time.

It is a very common issue. I called Audi Canada and they honored my claim. I am due for a replacement next week. My doors are way better than yours, so I think there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks genasoft. I don't actually own an allroad (yet) but I observated the beginnings of rust on at least half of the 10 cars I've looked at. According to each seller with rusty doors, they had never been in an accident (clean carfax in a few cases) and the door(s) had never been resprayed. Any ideas on what causes it? For what it is worth, I'm a VW MK4 owner as well and removed my fender foam a long time ago ;)

Pick up an Allroad from Texas and you'll have at least a 10 year head start. Cars don't rust down here - even the torsion beam and spindles on my 300k mile 2000 golf TDI are rust free.

It could likely be the aluminum door blades as I've yet to see door rust on any other C5 cars that I've parted and I've gotten a few rust buckets from the North East.

Can anyone confirm if VW/Audi has a 10 or 12 year perforation warranty? The example above is a 2001 so it would be just outside 10 years.

genasoft, what year is yours?

I have an 01 from Michigan never had door rust. Minor spots on the blades that come right off in the spring

12 years no mileage limitations.

hmmm does the rust have to go through the metal to be claimed or can I make a claim with only surface rust?

And I'm assuming it's 12 years from the production date?

It's 12 years from the date the vehicle was first put into in Service (ie sold).

According to a conversation I had with Audi, the rust has to occur from "the inside out" and it is perforation, meaning there has to be a hole.

Great so I have absolutely no chance then :(

Just buy the door skin from a same colour Allroad. Easy to change and shouldn't be expensive to buy. Maybe take 30 mins to replace.

Agreed. If Audi Canada doesn't warranty mine, I'll be looking for new skins. In my experience, rust repairs are tough to do well.
