A7 and A8 reliability

I wanted less vague, more up-to-date car reliability information. So in 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars closely as they age. Audi owners have been very active, with over 3,000 signed up.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the A8, for free. I'll share results in this thread when we have them.

We have updated our car reliability stats for the Audi A8 based on owner experiences through September 30, 2011.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006: 103, about average

2005: 129, worse than average (on the borderline)

2004: 121, about average

Small sample sizes in all cases, so these stats are not precise. But their similarity suggests they aren't far off, either.

We'll have further updates that will also include the A7 in February and May. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.
