View Full Version : How many had the door seals replaced?
Just want to get a general consensus.
My door seal on the bottom of the driver side door decided to fail or its adhesive failed. its hanging a little bit. I want to just glue it myself and avoid dealer trip. Called my buddy at the dealership he said if its not too stretched they usually glue it back if it is then they replace it.... He said its happened on a lot of cars....
WTF AUDI???
Should I glue it (Krazy/gorilla) or double sided tape it? Anyone just do this on thiers?

Actually, I just went to the dealer to redo mine on the passenger back door side. I was thinking going with power glue but in my case the thing was really unglued fro about 18inches long. The dealer did the job (drying included) in about 2 hours and washed the car just for the heck of it.
They did say for some reason the original glue has had issues and they actually use a different type when the repairs are made. They've done quite a few (unfortunately) but they say they haven't seen the customer come back with the new glue their using.
It's not that great to go back but heck its on the warranty so I chose that way.

I had my driver side door replaced when I brought it in for it's one year (4000 mile, in my case) service. I also had the thermostat replaced and they attempted to fix the creaking coming from under my seat. It's a good thing I love this car, it makes it easier to overlook all of the things I've had to deal with. I'm a little worried all of my weather stripping will fail eventually. Probably right after 4 years.

It's embarrassing when your 55k German sports sedan has weather stripping dangling from the bottom of your door. Especially when its Ibis.

It is the gastarbeiteren[drool]
This kinda like the proverbial window regulator breakdown
on Golfs and Jettas, factory designed to break every winter:(
Lol they probably fixed it for you guys on one of your services and didnt tell you. My dealer told me they have been doing that. They check them sometimes just to prevent the customers from seeing that and getting mad. It happens on a majority of B8 A4 and S4s...
Im just wondering on whether or not I should just fix myself.

It's possible. I would just have them do it. If they say that they are using a new type of adhesive that they haven't had any problems yet why bother doing it yourself?
cause then I have to spend 2 hours at the dealer

Loaner? Get a friend and grab some lunch. It's either 2 hours at a dealer or 30-60 minutes at home on your knees.

I had this problem five months after purchase. The dealership was great and fixed the driver and passenger side free of charge and provided a loaner. The dealership mentioned that a there was TSB to be issued. I'm not sure it ever was released.
