View Full Version : Volant Intake?

I've always liked the design of volant intakes since they have a fully enclosed filter and use a dry synthetic material which has better filtration than oiled filters and obviously be quieter than something like the strat.

They have an application for the 3.2 liter A5 which is also confirmed to fit on the 3.2 liter A4. This got me to wondering if the same intake would fit on the S4.

The two places where I could see potential fitment issues are

1)the throttle body placement/diameter. I don't know if the supercharger alters the height relative to the rest of the block of the TB. It may not as the superhcarger module effectively replaces the intake manifold.(This could be verified by seeing if the airbox to TB tube from AWE/carbonio can be used on the 3.2 or 3.0t interchangeably)

2) the shape of the trapezoidal connection from the air inlet to the airbox. Not sure if it would be changed from the 3.2 to 3.0T but it may be the same.(etka could verify if the airbox part number is the same between those two engines)

I don't have access to ETKA so I can't verify but it stands to reason that Audi would try and minimize differences between engines trims to be able to resuse the same parts and save money. I also know intakes don't offer huge performance increase but i'm a tinkerer so doing something a little different than most appearls to me. :)

Here is a pick of one installed on an a4 3.2
