Hey guys, do the B8 S4's have this Audi connect with Google? It seems pretty sweet, but i thought that the A7 and new A6 were the only ones that have it? If we don't have it, can it be added on?

The facelifted 2013 A4/S4 and A5/S5 models will get the Audi Connect (at least they do in Europe). No such luck for the current models.

Yeah, with smartphone hotspots, I'm not really getting the whole internet-in-the-car thing. I guess you can search for something and then navigate there automatically (without having to program it into the nav), but beyond that???
What am I missing that would justify another monthly data plan?

Exactly what you said, except you have to pay T-Mobile 30/month for a data plan. This is a useless feature as I have a data plan on my smartphone which I already pay 30/month and I have Google earth. What Audi should have done was found a way to integrate my Smartphone screen into the mmi.

I think that Audi should have done something more similar to what BMW did. I pay them $200/year and the car uses the AT&T Edge network in my wife's X-5. I can search via google, check weather, news, etc. It also comes with a concierge included. All for less money, about $17/month. I think I would have a hard time justifying the $30/month T-Mobile contract for nothing more than I can already do on my phone. Just my 2-cents.

If you prepay 3 years up front it's $15 a month.

I thought that it would also enable your passengers to connect to on their devices as well.....basically acting as a hotspot. Great for kids with their Ipod Touch etc.

I would have been happier if they would have just let the car pickup a hotspot, like from your phone or other devices and then have access to google maps, searches, etc. Would be nice to have a carputer that actually was factory rather than having to pull over and google search directions or other items. If Audi has announced the addition of a "Siri" button on their cars then i suspect something like this is coming but doubt it will be upgradeable, even with the MY13's new MMI....here's hoping though!

I have a 2013 S4 and it has Audi Connect. I find it to be the most worthless feature I have ever seen in a car. Fortunately, I felt that way before I got the car so it was no surprise to me. Like others here, I think Audi should have let us use our phones (which we upgrade more often than our cars) and skip the $30 / mo for obsolete 3G technology. Further, the Google maps don't even look that good when you zoom in, zooming in and out is slow (as is everything about using it) and the nav still leaves you wondering "Where?" when it announces "You have arrived at your destination!" I love everything else about the car (ok, except for the small fuel tank / short driving range) but this feature is absurd. I will not be using it when the free trial expires. At least the didn't put that pop up nav screen in the S4 like in the A6 and A7.
