I did my first oil change on the car yesterday. Pretty messy since I'm used to the filter being on the top of the engine bay, having owned '7s before the Audi.

After I disposed of the used oil, I found the drain bolt washer in the bottom of the pan. Looks like I put the plug back in without the washer.

Much chance of the bolt vibrating loose? I can't think of a reasonable way to reinsert the washer without making a huge mess and losing alot of oil either.

probably wont come out if you tightened it properly, but may leak.

you are supposed to get a new one from audi when you buy the filter(supposed to)

"ain't nothin silicone can't fix"...
just cover the sides of the bolt with silicone for now...make sure it's clean though...

turn the car upside - down and install the washer[:D]

i'd go silicone, better than having nothing there.

reminds me of a mate of mine who was changing the oil in his car and forgot to put the sump nut back. LOL, it wasn't until he had poured 4 1/2 litres of oil in the car and the car only took 4L that he realised what was happening.

get a clean container, like an empty washer fluid container and drain your oil into that, that way you don't contaminate our oil, put the washer back on and filler back up. I've done it myself.[a4]

^^^ You could do that, or, see if it's leaking and seal it as others have said. Chances are it won't be too long till you have to change your oil again... and you can put a new washer on it then.
