So I decided to give the plasti dip a chance on the side mirrors. The texture is rather rough. 3 coats, messed up a couple of spots but can only be seen when really close. overall I am pleased, but will most likely be peeling it off if it chips or I get sick of it.

having a black car, and them being so matte. Idk if I like it. Any full body shots?

Props for the effort, but I feel that a black car doesn't look good with two different shades of black. I also think the contrast of the mirrors on the black and the fact that they match with the grill and window trim is great..

just for info - the texture should be smooth. if its got texture or its bumpy, you sprayed from too far away. there is a magical distance about 5 inches away where its close enough to go on super smooth, but doesnt run. love seeing pastidip projects good usage.
as for whether it looks good or no on a gloss black car, it only comes down to whether or not you like it.

I think I may have sprayed to much on for each coat. I was conscious about staying 5-6 inches plus away while spraying, but some parts just appeared to have developed some craters. I may peel it off and do it all over again with the knowledge I obtained from the first try.
I saw all your threads on spraying the whole car. I will attempt to master it eventually....

I don't see what the big deal is, its not like spray paint...it could be reversed in 5 minutes if desired.
I like the alu as well, just experimenting trying to get a theme going with the car

Just not my thing buddy, regardless if it's easy to remove. If it works for you, great... Rock it.
I wanna see if we can get gunmetal mirror housings like the RS4 Ti Package had

I recently peeled mine off of my mirrors. It was slightly tedious since I half assed it, but I just got sick of it. It looks good on a red car no doubt, I just love the silver accents.

Yea, Ill be peeling it off soon to do it over again the right way. I'm also gonna plasti dip the rear valence, I'm on a plasti-dip high (no not huffing kids) atm. Just love how its completely reversible, makes it fun, and a good time killer haha...

You have the alu optic kit, you ruin the S4 look with that plasti dip crap on the mirrors. Takes away from the sportiness and sexyness from the car IMO.

Nothing really sporty about alu or chrome trim. It's more luxurious than sporty IMO.
Also, I don't think I have the alu optic kit, doesn't that come with alu side blades? (which IMO is the dumbest looking thing)
I like to experiment with different looks especially when its not permanent.
Thanks for your kind input though.

If you coated it several times and not once then get some black gloss spray paint and paint them again. Then you can still peel it off. It's a bit more work but I'm planning to do that to my grille this weekend.

Yea I definitely love how it's temporary, but permanent looking if that makes sense. I did both my valence and splitter and I'm happy about the end result :)

I'm looking around for a stock grille to do this with actually. Can't really find any though :( .
Changed my mind about the $550 ECS grille, just cant justify spending that much for plastic.
