For now, yes. We did end up bringing in an 18" version not long after we brought out the gloss-silver wheel so it's not impossible that we'll offer an 18" version of the matte-anthracite... No current plans to bring one in though.

Another big bump, I've been to the shop many times, and know everyone there - top notch service, always willing to do what it takes to make the customer happy (within reason) and very knowledgable staff, in addition to a great shop and mechanic. The guys all know Audi and VW cars, have great prices and don't gouge. I know many are not physically close to them, and anyone I have referred to them to deal with online have all been satisfied.

Scott did in fact come through and do a bit of brake upgrading, and he really did decide to go BIG. That is, StopTech's 355mm ST-60 Big Brake Kit (http://shop.achtuning.com/StopTech-83-114-6700-355mm-6-piston-Big-Brake-Kit-Audi-B8-S4.aspx) and matching slotted rotors out back with Carbotech pads front and rear. The gorgeous black calipers go very nicely with his black diamond exhaust tipped APR RSC exhaust (http://shop.achtuning.com/apr-fe100041-stainless-steel-catback-exhaust-audi-b8-s4.aspx), too. [wrench]

When Neal was in with his S4 back in April for the same BBK install, we did some weight comparisons between the stock and StopTech brake components and were fairly surprised with the results. I'd like to share those results here since we were too busy to get complete weight comparisons during Scott's install, and since Neal's BBK install was covered elsewhere before this thread began.

A significant weight savings is noticed right off the bat, with almost 10 lbs. shaved off each corner when upgrading with StopTech's BBK. The factory rotors alone weigh 5 lbs. more than the StopTech rotors!

Side-by-side, not only is the size difference obvious, but the aesthetic upgrade with the StopTech caliper is immediately noticed... These (and Scott's black) calipers are HOT!!

Larger rotors on the BBK increase heat capacity, better brake cooling dissipates absorbed heat, and stiffer calipers and stainless-steel lines improve response and modulation to offer the Audi S4 the best in over all balanced braking performance! We suspect Scott will feel these significantly improved results very clearly during the upcoming QuattroFest (http://www.audiclubnw.org/) event!

The pedal modulation is WONDERFUL! I did my brake's break in last night on the back roads. Pedal feel is much different on the brakes (stock brake pedal feel is more "numb"). Was not expecting much difference in that regard but VERY pleased about it thus far. [:)]

After a few gentle brake sessions, I gradually brought it up to full ABS braking (the brake grip increased noticeably in that process). After a few mins of cooling it down, I did about a dozen 60-20mph threshold braking runs (at the limit just short of ABS - LMAO it must've been a sight to see speeding and braking and repeat) and finally followed up with a nice gentle drive to cool everything down. Lovely transfer layer on the rotors now.

Thanks for the great work Achtuning (as always). You guys are the ONLY shop I trust for my Audi performance needs... [wrench] [up]

Scott, you're gonna love the BBK and Carbotech combo! Am using the CT XP10/XP8 combo now for 3 days of track in a one week period (4th coming tomorrow) and still going strong with no sign of brake fade throughout the days. Only drawback is the XP10s are not as quiet as I originally thought on the street! [:p] Well, I guess that's why I got the bobcats for!

Just wanted to share a customer's testimonial on their recent Hartmann Wheel "Blem" (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/452490-Hartmann-Wheels-quot-Blem-quot-and-Close-Out-Sale-2011) purchase. [:)]


I purchased a set of the blems and have to say, all the wheels looked really good to me. I found one blemish, about the size of a child's fingernail, on one of the wheels. Couldn't find anything else I would call a blemish on the others (I only looked at the face of the wheel, so maybe there were elsewhere, but then, who cares?[:D]). Good deal IMO.

While Steve left us his (gorgeous, Sepang Blue) S4 to receive an APR ECU software upgrade, he gave us permission to throw on a set of our 20" Hartmann HS5-209 wheels (http://shop.achtuning.com/Hartmann-HS5-209-GA-M-19-20-Inch-Replica-Wheels-Audi.aspx) for a test-fit. Scott met Andrew and Leo here at the shop while the two were here to receive StopTech's brake-line upgrade and fluid flush prior to the weekend's QuattroFest event. Not uncommon at all to have a line-up of B8 S4s here and it's always a pleasure to see! We hear the guys are coming back eventually for a StopTech BBK (http://shop.achtuning.com/b8-s4-big-brake-kits.aspx) and APR ECU upgrade (http://shop.achtuning.com/APR-Performance-ECU-Tuning-Audi-B8-S4.aspx) in the future, since it was apparent how much of a difference those upgrades made on Scott's car while tackling Portland International Raceway. It was great to finally get down to the store and meet you (again - I think we met briefly last Feb in Bellingham?), Skyler and Bill - I've been hearing great things about you guys from Neal and Scott for over a year now. Awesome to put names to faces, and to finally be at the holy grail of PNW automotive excellence [:)]

Thanks to all the Achtuning crew who did up our brake lines and fluids for the weekend, we couldn't have tracked nearly as hard as we did without that service. In fact, it would've been downright scary, likely dangerous. And yep, I'm really looking forward to getting back down there to do the BBK and tune, once I've saved up my pennies. Scott was an animal on the track with those upgrades!

Thanks very much to Bill as well for the hospitality on Monday morning while you managed to squeeze me in for the random after-track oil change on super-short notice. I was great hanging out there that morning, and talk about an impressive shop! Truly appreciated gents, and thanks again for everything!

Hey, Dion, nice shot and thanks for the great service. Wish you guys weren't 150 miles and a border crossing away!

Yeah, BBK and tune/pulley are definitely in the works. I shot some video while chasing Scott and he literally just drove off into the distance down the front straight at PIR. His Stoptechs also held up great even though he was carrying more speed while I had to baby my stockers and then go for an additional cool-down drive *after* the cool-down lap. Without the RBF600, would have been downright dangerous.

Do you guys sell brass balls? I need a pair of them too if I'm going go keep up with Scott in the twisties, lol.

APR is pleased to present a new ECU Calibration Strategy for all 3.0 T ECU Upgrades!!

APR's Engineering Teams have finished final testing of a new ECU Calibration for the Stage I and Stage II+ ECU Upgrades. The results are an additional 20-30 Horsepower and ft-lbs of torque depending on operating conditions, and the addition of APR Motorsport features designed to enhance your driving experience.

Accompanying these updates, all ECU's flashed with APR's v2.0 software will be subject to subsequent updates via OBD-II port reflashes through APR's world wide distribution network, ie us!!

For several years, APR's tested the 3.0 TFSI through brutal professional motorsport racing in the Grand-AM and World Challenge Road Racing Series. Automotive Engineering firms have continuously turned to endurance racing as proving grounds for new technologies and to measure the durability and viability of these new technologies in a rigorous total system accelerated life-testing environment found in very few alternatives. Through this testing and research APR's Engineering Team is able to deliver a more powerful application of the Stage I and Stage II+ ECU Upgrade and do so knowing little to no loss of life will be suffered in the comparison to the Original Calibration and engine performance levels.

APR's dynamic calibration changes allow the TVS1320 supercharger unit to operate to its full potential under many different ambient conditions. The resulting increase in intake mass airflow delivers more power though the entire rev range, no matter what APR Stage or APR Performance program you choose. Accordingly, adjustments were made to other areas of the ECU calibration to ensure proper operation as intended by the OEM.

APR's Motorsport Left Foot Braking feature is now available allowing customers more control over their vehicle's throttle. Under normal operation, throttle input is disabled while pressing the accelerator and brake at the same time, however this may be undesirable for those looking to get the most out of their vehicles performance on the track. Enabling the left foot braking feature, the driver will have complete control over the vehicle's throttle and braking system, which may give the edge he or she needs at the track.

APR's Motorsport Rev Limiter is also now available allowing 6MT customers to reach max RPM without the ECU slowing down acceleration nearly 400 RPM's earlier. The result is more power to redline and a definable redline feeling as seen on Audi Quattro GMBH vehicles such as the B7 RS4 and R8 V8 & V10.

Version 2.0 software is now available and is a FREE upgrade for all existing APR Stage I and Stage II+ customers.

Spacers are likely not needed as our offsets are more aggressive than the factory specs. Recommend you install a set of our wheels first THEN determine if you need them sitting out further. H&R's TRAK+ (http://trakplus.com/) website will give you all the information you need to obtain a proper measurement and determine the spacer size you'll want. SPC Adjustable Upper Control Arm Kits allow ±1.5° camber or caster change on a wide range of Audi and VW models. These arms directly replace the factory fixed length arms, allowing for easy adjustments after installation. Engineered for the street and track, the forged 6061-T6 aluminum ends with 18mm threaded adjuster links assure this is the stongest kit available. Well the 2-pc BBK rotors are a significant weight savings (several pounds) however the OEM style replacement rotors weigh essentially the same as the stock Audi rotor.

Sounds like we had to squash it. The style/mold didn't allow the wheel to fit enough applications to justify production. Our biggest concern is replenishing inventory and when that's done we'll start looking at new styles again.

It was in May of 2008 when we first asked Audi and VW enthusiasts (http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3848469-ACHTUN!NG-Feeler-LP560-4-Replica) what they thought about a possible new style we were considering adding to the Hartmann Wheel line-up. The unique style seemed to be a hit but priorities meant we had to put the idea on hold. Similar styles and new brands have since popped up with a good portion of the automotive industry embracing the once popular mesh style from the early 80s. When our German partners were recently asked to produce a higher quality, TUV approved version we jumped at the opportunity to add the retro-styled, German-quality wheel to the Hartmann line-up. While we might be a bit late to the game, we are proud to announce the latest addition to the Hartmann family – the HLP-410-GS:M!

In similar Hartmann fashion, the low-pressure heat treated cast wheel is painted a high-gloss silver then diamond-cut machined on the face. A clear-coat completes the process for a durable, lasting finish! Current sizes are 19×8.5 with either a 38 or 45mm offset – available to fit most of the Audi and Volkswagen models and they weigh 27 lbs. You’ll be able to find these in the online store shortly.

Off topic, but I wish my H&R street Perf coilovers went that high in the rear. Is it possible to buy just a set of the rear avant springs for those coilovers?

H&R only makes one version of the street coilovers for all vehicle variants. The components in your kit should be identical to the components in the avant above. That said there may be some different OEM Audi rear perch spacers, by my research there are the following varants:
8K0 512 141 G - 13mm thick
8K0 512 141 D - 10mm thick
There looks to also be an "E" variant, I am not sure what the thickness is on this one though.

I'm back with yet another annoying question about these wheels. This time it's - how does the color of the Hartmann HTT-256-MA:M (matte anthracite, machined) wheel compare to the OEM Audi 5-arm rotor wheel color? It appears to have the same kind of matte sheen to the finish, but is the color lighter, darker, same?
