So I'm on audi.com and it says the MMI plus comes with the camera, so wtf is the point of paying $550 for acoustics? I thought the acoustics was the camera? I missed something...

acoustics is the radar that beeps at you. Camera is the actual camera. The camera works, but distance can be a little hard to judge even with the blue bars.

For the 2012 Model year, you need to have Nav + Rear acoustic sensors to get a camera in a premium plus. Codes are PND for Nav, and 7X7 for sensors. That combination will get you a camera, though even Audi's official order guide doesn't explicitly say so. Trust me.
In 2011, nav cost $2550. For 2012, Nav is $2000 and sensors are $550 so you end up with the same thing.
Neat sidenote. The next several months of cars will STILL not have a camera even WITH nav and sensors, because of the Japan issue. Audi can't get enough of the modules to run the thing. These cars will come listed with a seperate (automatically added) code of SK6 which stands for Camera PREP. If you get a camera prepped car, you'll be able to have the module installed at no cost when the camera modules become available. Don't confuse the camera prep thing with Navigation not coming standard with a camera anymore though. A lot of people are making that mistake and ordering their cars wrong. You can NOT easily install the factory camera with a Nav only 2012 (without the sensor option)

I made that mistake, but in the end I'm glad I didn't get the camera because those rear sensors are really annoying when you're backed up to a wall.
